A physical, paper copy :-) Nice.
I went with Option 1 and am waiting for the reprint coming out in July. I am waiting to add it to my shelf.

CMOT70: It looks awesome. I already have their SNES book, so I sort of have an idea of their physical style- I like how they go with proper sewn binding and not glued.

Mine is in the post, but it takes a few weeks for things to arrive in Australia.

I also noticed when looking through the new PDF version that a few extra games have been added.
I agree. I hate "perfect binding", it is completely inadequate for any book that is actually read, rather than stored.

I have scanned the PDF, and I must say Filipe Pepe has done a marvelous job. The quality of the artwork makes the book un objet d'art, though. :) Very prettiful!
That looks super nice. I opted to just be fine with the pdf, but it's a sexy package.
Damn, that's sexy.

I almost sorta kinda want this now.
Amazing!. That book it's pure love! <3 ^_^

BreOl72: Tell me about it.
I love the Bitmap books.
So far I own the Commodore 64 Commpendium, the Commodore Amiga Commpendium, the Sinclair ZX Spectrum Compendium, the A Gremlin in the Works, the Art of Point-and-Click Adventure Games and as of today the CRPG book...

And the NES/Famicom Compendium, and the SNES/Super Famicom Compendium are on my wishlist. :)

They always deliver both quantity and quality with their books - I love that.
Well i ordered it back in 2014 and did not regret it.
When i bought it i wasn't so sure if its a hit of miss but after getting it going through its pages.
Hitting 134/135 and humming the melody of the best game on the system those are the moments that make you
"yupp totally worth it" with a smile on the face.
Remembering all the classics from back then while looking at the pictures holding it in your hand no ebook can ever achieve that for me.

That's why i preordered the CRPG book from them and the P&C-Adventure book ok to all fairness the latter was also due to some picture a person on this forum took *cough* no idea who he was *cough* :)

Ah, Elite...tbh, that was never a favourite of mine - but my brother sunk more time in it than he's willing to admit. ;)

True dat...ebooks are ok - under certain circumstances (holiday, etc.), but nothing beats the real thing.

Hm? What? I don't know what you're trying to imply here...do I know you? XD
Unbelievably, mine just turned up by courier. On a public holiday! Only 5 days after I got the email that it was posted. Of course Australians have to pay 50% of the books actual price in postage, so you hope it's fast at least. The price is worth it, it's now my favorite non-fiction book I own.

Plus, I must be lucky because I cannot see any scratches on the gold lettering. It wouldn't have bothered me even if it did, since it's going to get wear from use soon enough. Quality product and service from Bitmap, I'll buy any similar future products as well. I want a similar book for the history of racing games and flight sims.

And then people say, the easter bunny doesn't exist. ;)

To be honest, mine is so slightly scratched, I probably wouldn't had noticed, if they hadn't sent the email out regarding the scratches.
You really have to know what to look after, to recognize it.

Yeah. All their books are of great quality. I have yet to get disappointed with any of them.

Unless someone is deliberately keeping the scratches as some sort of editio princeps authentication, and if one is really bothered, it's just gold leaf, isn't it? One could just add some more gold leaf, to patch the scratch/es. :)

Congratz! And I seriously envy you right now :P

I was too late to the party so I really hope they will run another batch.

They do, the books will arrive in July.

Now, that would be an over-the-top reaction. ;)

In all seriousness - to see the scratches you have to go pretty near to the cover and look against the light (the pic I attached in my OP really makes it appear worse than it actually is).

No need to envy - as Lucomo stated already - new books will arrive later this year:

I just found some nice news from Bitmap Books in my email inbox:

(I'll cut out the advertising parts and concentrate on the actual point of the message)

The reason for this post though, is to pass on the deep thanks from Brazilian charity, Vocação.
You may or not be aware that the author of The CRPG Book, has amazingly donated all his royalties to charity.

This amazing selfless act has meant that we recently donated £12,475 to Vocação – this money will directly help kids and teenagers from poor areas to get education and employment, who then go on to help others around them to do the same, changing the community for the better.

Thank you everyone!
