NuffCatnip: How is 'Divinity: Dragon Commander'
I really liked it. Caveat - I'm not a die hard RTS player.

While none of it is fantastic (The board game part is a bit light, but still fun pushing your pieces around like a general, preparing your attacks. The RTS is pretty vanilla as well with the fun added wrinkle of turning into an action game when you transform into your dragon) the whole package just sort of worked for me.

Each individual part is a bit weak, but together the package is fun. Plus it actually tackles political issues ranging from health care to religion in a realistic, albeit humorous manner. Sometimes the RTS can be very difficult, but you can always mitigate this by 1) changing where you initially assault an enemy (which matters A TON - I had maps where I was getting DESTROYED - but everything changed when I switched up my choices / playstyle) 2) simply bombarding the enemy before the RTS even starts by dropping "cards" to give you more starting units.

There are plenty of warts and none of it is too deep but again, all together it had this gestalt thing going on that just sort of worked for me.

Anyone have any thoughts on Battlevoid: Harbinger?

I'm torn between this one and Convoy - I've been in the mood for a game like this for a while (collecting multiple little rogue-like units, upgrading them and seeing how far you can go before you die). I'm only going to grab one for now (I don't like to "burn out" on a genre and want one as a backup for next time LOL).

Harbinger looks right up my alley / perfect and had my attention since release - so much so that I watched a few youtube videos... and it bored the hell out of me to watch them. Which is what is holding me back right now. I know some games just play 10X better than they "watch" and I'm hoping this is one of them.

Convoy is one I've can't believe I haven't picked up yet, but for some reason the idea of a space is pulling me more than the Mad Max - but I'll gladly grab it if someone tells me Harbinger falls as flat as it looked. Again, mind you I LOVE the idea of everything you DO in Harbinger - but watching someone play it just seemed slow and boring - is this simply an issue with watching verses playing the game?

rtcvb32: Spaz - $5

Windforge - $3.29
Windforge is fixed? I always liked the idea of a Terraria-type game but with a bit more direction in the form of a quest system.

I want to like SPAZ so much. I love everything about what it does and is... but I can't stand inertial space shooters. I played the demo and was crying at all the amazing things the game did, because I knew I'd never be able to enjoy it given the core action gunplay.

Windforge works, it however sorta doesn't do more than one core so some graphical effects (heavy fog and miasma) can slow the game to a crawl, and exploring the large temples.

I'm assuming for Spaz you didn't like the fixed guns? That could be a problem. However it isn't that far in before you get ships with turrets, which will either auto aim or aim towards the mouse. Perhaps more is how much slower your ships move as you have more and more of a load from your cargo. Some ships are interesting with all their ports pointing one direction so you have to get near and then rotate before firing hoping to get them with your several weapons at once. Otherwise I kinda prefer using my turrets 90% of the time. Much later some of the larger ships have like 12 turrets on their ships so there will be enough firepower at the end game. Some of the mods (epic quest for beef) really mix things up.

It's the "drift" inevitable with Newtonian space shooters that gets me. I'm sure once I get to larger more deliberate ships it wouldn't be so bad. There have been a few games like this (SPAZ being the best of them) that just never click for me. It especially sucks with SPAZ because I absolutely LOVE everything the game does (collecting blueprints, crafting everything from new gear to ships, upgrades, skill trees, the tactical combat mode - all of it) - but the core action gameplay I just have never been able to "handle."

My experience with Newtonian physics is more with Ring Runner, and Operation Inner Space. It's something you get used to, and you can quickly get a good hold of. Ultimately it means you either need stronger engines, or you have to adjust your angles to be steeper to get the control you want (assuming you don't turn slowly). But SPAZ is mostly in empty space, while Ring Runner has asteroids and cities and race tracks. Once you get used to other games with it, you'll feel right at home :)

tinyE: Project Zomboid
You know, I took a gander at the store page for that game and it doesn't really look all that great. Am I right in that there's no ending, it's like Dwarf Fortress in that every game you just play until you die and then start over? Sounds depressing.

Well yeah, there is that. :P

HunchBluntley: What are some people's thoughts about Card City Nights? What are the weak points of the game? (For the price, I don't really care if its a bit short -- so much the better, actually, as I might actually finish it then. :) )
I played it about two years ago and wrote a review that might be of service to you. At that time I was really happy with the game, so take all the praise with a grain of salt, it might be a bit overenthusiastic. But I still think it's good for what it is and the price is a steal. The only weak points I remember is that it starts out a bit slow, the mechanics appear a bit boring during the first couple of games when you're still playing with the basic deck, but it gets better after that. And the game is probably rather easy; not without challenge, but if you're looking for a really complex trading card game, this is not it. I don't know what kind of games you like and what you're expecting, but from my point of view it's definitely worth the asking price and more.

- Thunderscape - 1.49 (Ghorpm's fault lol, probaby terrible)

Having not played the original Shadowgate, I don't know if it's a good remake, but overall I enjoyed it. As you can see, the artwork are very nice but keep in mind that the animation is quite minimal. As for the gameplay, I had to look up to a walkthrough several times as I found some puzzles somewhat difficult (if I remember correctly I played at normal difficulty - later I read that hard difficulty brings new & harder puzzles to the game). The UI is nice enough. All in all, a decent game. If in doubt, you can buy the normal edition for nearly half the money but without the extras.

Only one I can comment on, sorry.

Depends what you are looking for. Midget_roxx did a good and fitting review. If you have specific questions, I do own all three titles ;)

Thanks, that was helpful. :) I'll probably go ahead and get it, then (after making sure there isn't anything else that might interest me).
