Arteveld: According to the Painterly Pack site:
"IMPORTANT NOTICE: The following things do NOT currently work with Painterly due to coding changes or bugs in the actual Minecraft game itself: Non-biome grass/tree shading, watches, compasses, redstone wire, and diamond/iron/gold block selections. Unfortunately nothing can be done about that at this end. Thank you for your patience and consideration - I am trying to speak with Mojang about possible fixes for this."

I guess You have the same stuff going on in Yours?
Well, my watch definitely works. But mainly I just tested that the bed worked, and I could make the new half-blocks. The shadows/shading seems fine for me, I've certainly not noticed anything in particular.

If anyone has any issues, let me know, and I'll see what I can do (if possible). The problems with Painterly may be because they have changed more than I have?

As best as I could tell they simply meant on Painterly's site that making dramatic changes to those features didn't 'take'.

Wishbone: Tried it, and while some of it is very nice indeed, other things are not. The glass texture is one such thing. It's really horrible. The beatiful glassed-in porch I used to have suddenly looks like a zoo cage. Also, some inventory icons are hi-res, while others are lo-res, and they just look really bad together. Finally, the inventory cells are too light, they need to be darker to stand out from the background.

Runehamster: Oh, it's not perfect. I have my issues with Painterly too, though. What I'm figuring is that I'll just tweak what I don't like from packs I do - I've been thinking about swapping out a glass texture, even the original. It's not hard at all. I haven't noticed the issue with the inventory icons though o.O
I quite like it. But I don't have huge windows at the moment, and I can imagine the texture becoming annoying then.

Do you just copy the 16x16 square of the terrain.png with the texture you want to the 16x16 square in the terrain.png with the texture you want to replace?

Seems really easy to just remove the cross in the window by hand too.

Yeah, that's exactly what you do, then you just zip it back up and drop it back into your folder. If you rename the zip file, it doesn't even overwrite the original. Don't forget to use GIMP or paint.net to copy it, though, or you lose the 'alpha channels', which apparently (according to a question thread I posted a couple of days ago) means the windows won't be transparent anymore.
Whoa, 'Still Alive' in Minecraft!

Wishbone: Just tried it. While it's fascinating playing around with the landscape for a while, it's not really so much a game, is it? It's more a huge sandbox of toy blocks. The name "Minecraft" leads me to believe that there will eventually be more to it, but as it is right now, I quickly lost interest. Maybe if there were more colorful blocks to build from, you could really do some 8bit recreations.
Agreed. I see no need to waste time "exploring" a false world, the real world is right outside the window....

Now, Miner WARS, I will be investing a lot of time into!

Hehe, did you happen to check the date of the post you quoted? It was June 16th, 2009. I was right too, eventually there would be more to it. Much more. And still more is to come. I am now a huge Minecraft fan, so my statement of more than a year and a half ago has since been invalidated.

*sigh* Why does every game need useless pets? I'd much rather he spent his time implementing The Nether in SMP. THAT would get a "Woo!" from me.

Perhaps we could eat them to regain sanity. ;D

Useless? I was hoping for attack dogs, that could be eaten as long as they were cooked in an igloo.
Woo!

Hehe, no "Woo!" there from me either, I'm afraid. I detest those sorts of card games.

It's a cat. It's already in Minecraft, it just pointedly ignores you, hides whenever you're awake, and comes and eats your cake while you're sleeping.
