The guys at Loot Crate are now offering a monthly subscription to "Loot Crate" of 5 games for $12. Unfortunately it seems you won't know what you'll get until release date. For the first month they revealed the one of the games to be Crossing Souls. They are Steam Codes in the crate. Opinions?

My opinion is go with Humble Monthly. You contribute to a charity, you know the biggest games you'll get ahead of time, and the value is ALWAYS through the roof. It is also Steam codes.

If you want cheap surprise games, better go with Groupees bundles.

You pay 0.50-4 dollars prelaunch price, and get whatever you may get.

The good part is, it's always cheaper than store prices, you always (?) get all tiers with the prelaunch price, which is always (?) cheaper than the price for the highest tier. You can even trade the bundle if you don't like it, and it will almost always include Steam keys, very often DRM-free downloads, and on some rare occasions even GOG keys.

Nothing new under the sun . Even toddlers sells steam keys .

Have to agree, I'm almost finished my first year subscription and I've never been disappointed.

LootCrate is offering Crossing Souls ($7.49 - $14.99) + 4 mystery games for $10.00-$11.99.

Humble Bundle is offering Hollow Knight ($9.89-$14.99), Hitman: The Complete First Season ($7.49-$14.99?) , & 7 Days to Die ($8.99-$24.99) + an unknown number of mystery games (guessing another 4-6) for $11-$12.

This is a wait and watch and watch and watch and watch....

Just for the record, the MSRP of the last 3 Humble Monthly bundles have been $141, $222, ans $228. Now actual value is a little lower due to the wide appeal of these games; some of them just won't appeal to certain people. I'll give away about 1/3rd of my Monthly games, either because I already own them or because I have no desire to own them. But the value to me, EVERY month has been more than the $12 I spend on it.

Also with Humble Monthly, you get access to the Trove, which is another nice appeal. Those are all DRM-Free games.

Oh cool didn't know about that. I just checked it out and now I have another place to spend money.

As for Loot Play, I wish the games came in physical format or had something substantial to add to make it worth buying. The whole surprise thing bums me out though.

I'm not a big fan of surprises. There are good ones, but the majority of the time when someone isn't telling me something until the last minute it's because I won't like what I'm going to hear. Plus I always think of this scene.

They've muscled themselves out of dozens of potential sales by offering one payment option and limiting any purchases to the US (though I imagine they'll expand the market if they find that they actually manage to turn a profit from this endeavor - I'm guessing they will ultimately, given the glut of crap they have on offer beyond it that hasn't sunk them as a company yet).

I'm sure they have some valid reasons for dropping the likes of Paypal as a payment processor (no doubt rampant fraudulent transactions made using it) but putting faith in any potential customers just wanting to blindly dump their credit card info into the site for a handful of games (that they can't even hold!) is a bit silly at this point.

I find it a bit funny that they advertise that shipping is included in the price.

The rest of the games for November weren't much to write home about (that Hammerwatch was even in there is a bit confusing, given that sale Humble ran on it where purchasers ended up with 3-5 extra copies of it):

Man, these offerings just don't seem worth 12 dollars a month. Competition breeds excellence though so I'm rooting for them to get some more sought after games.
