I'd like rep pretty much removed.

I'd also like to have the ability to ignore users so that there posts start out collapsed in every thread. Also, I'd like that annoying quotes bug to be fixed.

And while we're at it, it would be nice to have a preview button so we can preview the post before it actually submits.

And bonus points if I could set some of them to un-ignore after a week or two. For those cases where I'm arguing with somebody and just want to ignore them for a while, but not permanently.

My vote is to remove rep entirely, as people tend to bandwagon on voting, alter what they say to either get more rep or try to conserve rep when they have an unpopular opinion, and generally just derail discussions talking about rep or complaining about getting down-rep'd.

Vanity on forums has never been a useful thing, and I believe it should be as minimized as possible.

I'd also like the text 'Post my message' text changed when you're editing an existing post. In that context, it should say something in the ballpark of 'Submit edit'.

She had a few good songs in the 80's and I liked her in "The Last Dragon" but I agree. Ever since she 'found God' and went on this crusade to save people like her mentor Prince from damnation she has just gotten way too annoying to have around.

Bah, Apollonia was better.

WHAT!? The woman was barely more than a piece of furniture! I've seen pieces of cheese that could act better than her.

Well, if we're being honest, I don't care for any of them, including their "mentor". Just wanted to be contentious. :)
Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post, but I have a question that doesn't seem worth its own thread, and I wasn't sure of whether necro-posting was considered acceptable here:

I know how to quote, and how to specify the source of my quote--as long as my source is someone in the thread in which I'm posting. How can I specify another source--Wikipedia, for example?

On at least one other forum I recall being able to use [ quote="Wikipedia"]...[ /quote] (or something similar), but that doesn't seem to work here.

(I have searched, but the search feature seems to be acting up for me, producing "Error 500--Internal Application Error" messages on occasion. I didn't find a "markup help" page.)

[ url=https://www.site name ] clickable link named whatever you like [/url] (remove the spaces - I left them in so you could see the syntax)

But I think the actual problem you're encountering is not enough rep - posting of links isn't allowed until you have a certain level of reputation (no clue what it is though)

When I joined it was 7, so he has enough.
It's not links that are giving me trouble, but rather quotes--specifically, trying to attribute them.

For example, if I was quoting a piece of text from Wikipedia, I might use the following tags:

[ quote=Wikipedia]<Quoted text here>[ /quote]

And want to end up with something like this:

| Wikipedia:
| <Quoted text here>

At the moment I can get such attribution for other posts in the same thread, but not for anything else, it seems. :/

Not possible with the current forum software, though you could always try something like this

Wikipedia link
.kkrieger (from Krieger, German for warrior) is a first-person shooter video game created by German demogroup .theprodukkt (a former subdivision of Farbrausch) which won first place in the 96k game competition at Breakpoint in April 2004. The game remains a beta version as of 2012.
Or
Fair enough, and thanks. ^_^
I love GOG's forum but the "search" fonction is, according to me, not enough precise.

JudasIscariot: Hi guys,

It has come to my attention that there are a few issues that may need to be looked at and ironed out with the forum. I am basing this statement on my experience from PMs from forum members concerned with their rep and your experiences that I read about here on the forum itself.

So let's talk:

What would you like to see in the GOG forum?

What would you change, what would you keep the same?

In short, feel free to express your opinion on your experience with the forum in general and what you think can be done to improve or enhance the experience :)
Remove the rep system entirely. Use a post count/join date rule before you can post links, or something other than rep # if you want to restrict posting links because of potential spam. Also, you need a better account creation method that minimizes spam bots from creating accounts and spamming the forum, and spamming user reviews on game pages in particular.

If you're going to allow post history, then allow users to keep their own history private if they so choose. I'm ok with the way it currently is, though I wouldn't mind a better way to view my history.

Don't turn GOG into some social site where users join groups. Leave that to Facebook or whatever. It'll fragment the forum and groups will stage and bombard threads.

So, no rep, and no history. Do you think that there should be a way to tell apart the forumgoers who are just here to hoard freebies or giveaways, or do the generous users simply have to deal with the fact that their gifts get swallowed by such people ?
