It's definitely misleading. The banner is at the top of the sale page with its own banner that says "claim your copy" - the way that GOG has traditionally announced freebie giveaways and has never, to my knowledge, announced that a game was "now available on GOG connect".

It's awfully front-and-center for something that's not remotely a big deal.

A steam account can be made private, thus preventing GOG's from making API calls. This effectively disconnects it.

Possible : there's one case scenario :

buy a game on Steam when such game is available on connect.

If this precaution isn't taken , well any user could try to ask a refund on Steam...and keep the GOG's copy. And actually that's end up as getting a free game.

Anyway you have no way to remove your Steam's account or add another with the same GOG's account from the connect page.

So once added on the Connect page a Steam account is permanently linked (except for the part your mention).

The point there is rather that you can only link 1 account, you cannot disconnect that Steam account and then use another one, it's either that one or nothing once you connect.

Agreed that it's not likely that they did but it's understandable it's there, abuse will always happen if it's possible. At this point if a great game comes out and offers GOG connect you could arguably buy it on Steam, GOG connect it and then refund it on Steam. It's not likely anything will be done about it, at least at this stage because it'll just start adding negative rep to the system.

Doesn't mean they might not revoke your license later

After reading all posts, at first I felt cheated of a game, now I feal cheated to have done the GOG Connect because not only I didn't receive Limbo, none of my steam games were able to transfer to GOG, which means, I wasted my time.

May I suggest a different order of operations for your future endeavors?

1. Read the manual.
2. Act.

Not telling you what to do, but in my experience people tended to have greater overall success ratio with this sequence than with the opposite one. =)

If you have bought LIMBO on HB, it includes also a Steam key. So activate that Steam key on Steam, then you will get the "free" GOG version via GOG Connect.

I had LIMBO from some old Humble Bundle (I also activated the Steam version even though I played the DRM-free Humble Bundle version), and now I have the GOG version too via GOG Connect.

I'm sorry, the banner clearly says "Get LIMBO for free with GOG Connect". That isn't misleading in the slightest - it's just what it says on the tin.

Unless of course you refuse to read anything after "free", but then frankly it's your own fault.

TBH, I don't Steam, and this doesn't bother me a bit. If I really wanted Limbo, I'd just buy it....
