Do people run around complaining about every limited or group giveaway on steamgifts? What about facebook/youtube/othersite giveaways that require someone to jump through hoops in order to be eligible? It's nonsensical.

That is how you see it. But that is not how I see it.

Safety measure at the expense of others. A bunch of people being punished due to one man. But you are missing my point. Let me make things more clear. FORUM = freedom of speech as long as GOG allows it and you don't say anything illegal.

Punished isn't the right word. Nobody is punishing anyone. I should of said, a bunch of people miss out or suffer due to one man, depending on each person.

Not being eligible for a few giveaways hardly qualifies as "suffering." Steamgifts isn't that big of a deal, and it's really the only sort of giveaway being discussed in regard to necessary rep anyway.

Either way some point. You have the right to complain about those giveaways same as others are willing to argue that you shouldn't complain. This can go round and round forever if everyone wants.

Being deprived of something that you already own is a punishment. Not being included in a 3rd party prize draw isn't.

langurmonkey: I don't feel entitled to anyone's games. I just think it is unfair to not include GOG members because they haven't put in 4 months time into the community. It is basically saying fuck you to the new members. And why? Because of ONE guy who is a douchebag scamming people?

A poster here that was considered a "troll" and significantly downrated because of this, but apparently saw the error of his ways and came back to the light side or what ever.

Have you given it any thought why people host giveaways here in the first place? There are of course several different reasons but one that's pretty central is a wish to give something back to this (mostly awesome) community. Is it really that unreasonable to limit such giveaways to those who've actually contributed to the community? Joining date and rep are the two best indicators of that, while still avoiding "getting personal" in rejecting individuals.
