bhrigu: Anyway, just one thing. Will it be possible to do so that we can choose which games from our collection to show in the profile, rather than the entire library?
Time to open a support ticket asking for the removal of Huniepop from your library, huh? xD

I don't own it. :p
That may be a problem for others.

For me the prospect of having all those games bought on impulse (DnD games I will probably never play), and the freebies I don't like or Demos displayed on my profile seems pretty unsettling.

elcook: You guys and gals are also the most sensitive for such changes, hence the forum post to let you know earlier.
Very tactful and I think wrongly termed.

bhrigu: That's great I guess.
Would you integrate the GOGmix feature with profiles? The mixes are very helpful.
Unlikely. As far as I know, they want GOGmixes to die. Or at least they don't care about them at all.

If you haven't already, you could select Hide Game from the drop down in your account page for them. I doubt the hidden titles would be displayed on the profile page.
Thanks for the heads up.

Letting us configure the new privacy elements beforehand, is much appreciated too.

te_lanus: so GOG is becoming even more like steam?
Steam has many great features that users and devs love, there is nothing wrong with GoG bringing them here. You can choose to use them or not.

elcook: So there is a very cool and nice feature coming to GOG - we will be introducing user profiles very, very soon. But I won’t be revealing any details of the feature, as we want you guys to experience it first-hand rather than reading some PR bla-bla. Before it all goes live and will be available for you, we need to deal with all the formalities - launching profiles means adding new privacy settings on our end. We want to give you a heads-up, and that’s why today we’ve introduced the three new privacy settings on your GOG account, all connected to the profiles.

As with all privacy settings, you will find the three new options on your account, under „Orders & Settings” in the Privacy tab. These settings allow you to set visibility for your profile summary (including your recent activity and recently active friends), your games on the profile and your friends on the profile - you can set them to „everyone”, „friends only”, or „only me”. The default settings are - „everyone” for your profile, and „friends only” for both your games and your friends. If you want, you can change those settings already, before we launch with profiles, and of course you can change those settings anytime you want.

Hope you’ll enjoy this new feature when it comes to GOG, and expect an official announcement very soon!
Will there be an API that lets user trusted 3rd parties access these profiles.

No privacy by default? Yes, very cool... I had to disable everything first...

What does the "activity" option show to other people?

This is a good thing. Finally I can point friends somewhere to see what I own. A centralized place to see someone's reviews is also nice.

Seems so... So why not also annoy us every day to connect with FB and other media?^^
For the time being, I'll keep everything private ("only me") and then I'll decide (after looking exactly at what we're talking about) if I'll make some parts of my profile public. Anyway, the feature has been long requested by most of the new users and I'm happy for them. If it's well done, I'm gonna use it too. It's like for Galaxy though: I use it but it must remain optional, and so should public profiles. As long as it's like that, I'm pretty happy with it :D

Thanks for the heads up!
default should be the most private possible so that those who aren't aware of the change don't suddenly have their shit exposed if they don't want it to be, and then it is too late to put the paste back in the tube, eh?

more gog incompetence

also, what the fuck is with people starting all of their sentences with the word "so" these days? People don't know how to construct a full-thoughted sentence?
