UPDATE: Last chance to grab your games from the original list! Make sure to get them until June 8, 12:59 PM UTC.

Want more games? We've got more games! Three new titles are now available through GOG Connect:

- Kona
- Defender's Quest
- Door Kickers

You can get them until June 13, 1:59 PM UTC.

Today, we're launching a new program called GOG Connect. The premise is simple: connect your Steam account and add your eligible games to your GOG.com library.

Whether you're checking us out for the first time or have been with us for a while, GOG Connect gets you DRM-free versions of your games, digital extras, and a whole lot of freedom of choice (like whether you go with the GOG Galaxy client or not). It gets you our take on game ownership, and we say: why buy the games more than once?

Thanks to our awesome partners including Deep Silver, Harebrained Schemes, Jonathan Blow's Number None, TaleWorlds and more, you can now add more than 20 games to your GOG.com library if you previously purchased them on Steam.

The full list of games will always be available on connect.gog.com, starting with these and more:

- The Witness
- FTL: Faster Than Light
- The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut
- Galactic Civilizations 3
- Trine Enchanted Edition
- Saints Row 2
- Shadowrun Returns
- The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

While GOG Connect will stick around, the available games will come and go. These are limited-time offers made possible by participating developers and publishers, so stay tuned as we bring new titles onboard in the future (and grab your copies before they go away)!

For a bit more library-building, a bunch of our favorite titles will also be discounted up to -85% all week long, including The Witness, Saints Row: The Third, System Shock 2 and more. You can check out all the deals here. The sale will last until June 6, 12:59 PM UTC.

Fuzzmaster: Lame. Missed out on FTL & Witcher by a couple of hours (initial steam privacy settings inhibited the process). Once corrected, it took so long to refresh I gave up figuring I'd come back later; alas, later appears to be too late.
avatar
WvStolzing: You can still get Witcher 1 (and also 2) through GOG's 'backup' program:

https://www.gog.com/witcher/backup

(So they never really needed to include the Witcher in the 'connect' program in the first place.)
100% pure awesome; Witcher 1 & 2 added like a boss. Not sure how this goodie slipped by.

lingnothing: still something i am not sure off but i guess the answer will be no
does this mean the games i will buy on steam will be in my gog acc or vice versa??
Any game you have in your Steam library, and which is currently shown as available on the GOG Connect page, can be added to your GOG library if you go through the connection process. Nothing will be added to or taken from your Steam library.

Pheace: Also, what's stupid about their refund system? With Steam's refund system you can download and play the game for almost 2 hours and still get a refund no questions asked. If you download it on GOG the game needs to be broken to get a refund and you'll have to work with support to fix it before you'll get one.
avatar
mcferson: Really ?
They sway they give us 30 days delay, but it's wrong ?
You can get a refund for any game you have not attempted to download any part of (even the bonus content, such as manuals) within 30 days of purchase, for any (or no) reason.
For any game you HAVE downloaded, you can still ask for a refund if you have technical problems and GOG Support is unable to help you get the game working (this requirement is to limit people abusing the DRM-free nature of the games -- you know, downloading an offline installer, claiming they'd deleted it when asking for a refund, then getting their money back AND keeping the game).
avatar
mcferson: Anyway, i'm still not convinced.
I really need to know what is or are the point(s) to link my accounts.
To get DRM-free backup copies of games you already paid the publishers for on other stores. Sometimes the GOG versions also run better, or have bonus content (like free soundtracks), too; mostly, though, people like these because they can back up their games to discs or external hard drives and never need to worry about re-downloading them, or about authenticating them online, or whatever.

EDIT: fixed typo

Well this bites .... I follow instructions and wait patiently only to lose out on the offer because of lag? poor coding? poor instructions on the web page? I'm at a total loss as to what I did wrong here ...
Before running these time limited offers, GOG really needs fix the "high traffic" issue.

Edit edit: I saw that after doing a time conversion, HunchBluntley (and who even uses UTC? why not just give the end date in all timezones?).

Sinistrall: I feel the pain too, paegan.789. I have 4 of the current games.

I'll "try again in a few hours" but by then it will be too late. It would be nice for GOG to offer the games to users who couldn't connect because of the difficulties the GOG site is having, but I have little faith.
There are only 3 games currently offered. :P The other offers expired this morning.
Sorry. :(

I can understand missing out on a deal due to my negligence but jumping through all the hoops u tell me to and still end up with nothing? yeh, that burns ...

Wait a few hours. If you were able to get that far in the process before those games expired, there's a good chance they'll show up in your account by tomorrow. (And if they don't, you could always try contacting Support and see if they'll add them for you anyway, since you connected your account during the initial window.)
I'm hoping in the future the deals for connection last for longer (maybe even stay up permanently). I'm also with another earlier poster on here that I'd like to see the new Homeworld Collection Bundle on GOG Connect (plus soundtrack, since I have the deluxe edition via Steam).

Not gonna hold my breath on that one. Plus I wasn't gonna bother with support because the screenshot doesn't really prove anything since there are no definite details in it e.g. date/time/user account etc.
SORRY, WE ENCOUNTERED AN UNEXPECTED ERROR DUE TO HIGH TRAFFIC

Please return to this page and try again in a few hours.

been trying for a day and a half.

They don't need to rely on your screenshot -- they scanned your Steam library. I would think they should be able to access the list of your Steam games that and manually add them (if they want to...which means if the publishers are cool with it).
I've been hoping GOG would add a feature like this for a couple years now. You guys are awesome for following through on such a consumer friendly idea.

I have a suggestion for how to make the implementation even better from a user perspective. You need to add a tiny Steam icon to games in the store that Connect users own on Steam. Even if we don't own the game in question on both platforms, being able to tell at a glance that we own it on any platform would be incredibly useful.

Basically, I'm thinking of something that works in conjunction with the Owned icon you already have. So any game on GOG would have four potential statuses: Owned (on GOG), Owned (on GOG and Steam), Steam (owned on Steam), and Un-Owned.
The post said you needed to claim games by June 8th, but I've been trying constantly to enable GOG Connect for days and all I'm getting is "SORRY, WE ENCOUNTERED AN UNEXPECTED ERROR DUE TO HIGH TRAFFIC"

So I sincerely hope you extend the deadline.

No, I don't forgive you. You've shown me a free candy and I couldn't get it cause you forgot to unlock the kitchen.
I haven't really started using gog yet, but I'm feeling disappointed in you already... -_-
