You know what is great, The Lego Indy Original Trilogy.

Not all the Lego games are winners but they really did a nice job with that one.
Can't say I'm a fan of the 4th Indy film. The over the top sequences came into the story in such a manner to make the story seem unbelievable. Like when Indy hides in a fridge and it protects him from an atomic explosion or the whole beginning action part in warehouse of secret things. The way things play out it's almost like watching a road runner cartoon. Also the whole semi sentient animal thing was a bit much. There are also a lot of Deus Ex Machina moments in the film (one that was real galvanizing was the monky's helping out Shia's character).

To be clear, this stuff could have worked but it probably needed better presentation or the tone of the film should have been in line with what came before. Save the over the top stuff for the big reveal.

As far as Planet of the Apes goes, for me the only film that was good was the original. Everything else kind of takes away from the power and message of the first film, particularly the ending if all those other films are part of the "universe".

Tarm: I'm avoiding the new Planet of the Apes films. It's a bit of a petty reason really. I don't want to see something where humanity is fucked from the beginning and bound to lose. Don't care how right the apes are. Viva la humanity!

It's made to feel like a 1950s film and how we think they are. Even the main plot is in line with that era thinking. In this regard it's actually a very well made film and a lot of thought have gone into it.
The problem is as I said that the characters of Indiana Jones, Marion and so on is from a different era and do not fit. If Lucas had come up with totally new characters, as in it not being a Indiana Jones film it might even have been a hit.

Here's a Star Wars example. Imagine if Star Wars I, II and III had been Flash Gordon I, II and III. Then they would have been great.

Uhm... Why would terrible writing, mostly bad acting, poor casting, annoying characters and overreliance on CGI be great for a Flash Gordon movie?
Letting Indy have a son he never met was just bad storywriting, it meant they have no history together so no tension like between Connery and Junior. Shia's character might as well just have been a random sidekick that tagged along.
Also there was no chemistry between Indy and any of the other characters, no camels instead of horses jokes either.

Have you read the original old comics? The visual style is almost spot on. Otherwise I agree.

I'm positive Marion was on drugs the whole film. Seriously. She behave like she's on happy pills all the time. Drove me almost nuts watching it.

I'm kind of relieved to see someone else feels the same way, and has the guts to admit it. That's the exact same reason I can't bear to watch it :P

I can't believe you had me look that film up. I'm ok with having stuff like killer pasta from outer space meeting the cannibal crocodile farming rednecks show up as visited on IMDB but this is just embarrassing to have on my browsing history.
I am not sure what you guys are talking about...there is no 4th Indiana Jones movie!!

That line was so funny the first 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times I've seen it cricling the internet, I'm glad it finally made it's way here.
