Embark on this cosmic odyssey, where the fate of galaxies rests in your hands!

Dark Legions
In this strategic fantasy game, you’ll have to prepare yourself to forge an army that embodies the darkest realms of fantasy, as you summon up to 50 formidable beings to serve your cause. More goodness from SNEG. Thank you. :)
After noticing the 1.0 build in Star General. I was a bit afraid this version of the game was similar to the 1.0 version that floats around the internet. The enemy refuses to behave in any meaningful manner in the 4x mode. Much to my relief i encountered this heavily fortified, i guess homeplanet of one of the other races involved in the game. The scout was destroyed outright the turn afterwards. If they manage to fight of the battleship i've planned for somewhere in the coming turns.. maybe even be a bit of a challenge in the ground war that will follow... unless the battleship does not come through ofc .... This might be a keeper !

1.0 seems to be the default Windows build, with 1.1 only being a DOS version thing (included in this release).
awesome releases!

[particularly dark legions/veil of darkness/summoning]

keep this sort of stuff coming, please! :)
I had forgotten all about Star General. The days I spent playing a demo of that game when I was a lot younger hid in the dark recesses of my mind and were brought back by SNEG. In itself this is invaluable, but it cost me only $5.
I wonder for what reason Veil of Darkness is more expensive than the rest.

Anyway, I assume there is no issue with extracting files for crossplatform DOSbox use?

None whatsoever. I have almost the entire collection of DOSBox packaged GOG games running with libretro's DOSBox-Pure core. Having save state support in DOS is amazing.

Thanks for the reply. Pity that it doesn't have an actual campaign and a set map. And why would it be hard to do here? They could do it in Fantasy General, and it's not like it's hard just because it's space strategy, since for example Homeworld can introduce a reason for fighting across the galaxy and a progression for quite a good story campaign and, if anything, seems to me that turn based leaves even more room for a "script" than real time...

The core concept of Panzer General was its canned missions-branching campaign mode. It had also single scens for more focused situations and premade single battles/army selection.

In Star General It is similar with the battles, more focused situations with premade set of armies. But the campaign mode is a sandbox, very cofigurable, "conquest the galaxy" way of things, more similar to a space 4x in that sense.
For this game I believe it fits pretty well

Hard to be added?. Not sure, but the fact is that the game is more complex than other five star Generals series because of the two different set of turns during Space and during Ground Battles. It has its own special rules regarding duration of turns between space and planet fases

It could have been possible? maybe, hard to say when you play the final product and its peculiarities and similarities

Maybe they wanted to make something different, maybe they didn´t had the time needed for the implementation of one more play mode, or maybe they ended assuming, under their own knowledge of the game design, that it was not possible or wouldn't have worked fine..

Question regarding Star General - is there any other difference between DOS and Windows version, aside from the fact that network multiplayer is available only in Windows version?

I know about this one, since it's stated directly in the manual, but not sure if there are any others?
