bloodbowl: For this day and age, I just don't see any appeal at all in having physical copies of the games anymore. They occupy a lot of space and are completly unecessary. I'm not exactly very old (I'm in my mids twenties), so perhaps I'm not part of the generation where physical copies were the only choice, but still...
Having games on Steam, GOG or whatever other service is far more convienient. Physical copies, today, only cater to a specific demographic of people, at least as far PC gaming goes, so I don't think there's really any point in trying to convince the modern gamer in getting gaming boxes because most of them couldn't care less.
I also think it's a very dumb argument to come here and say:
-huh... wut about ur interne connection? if someone removes that, how u gonna play dem games?
I mean... come on. Unless you live in a location where internet is really hard to come by, this is hardly an issue. There are some days where I do have issues with my connection, but not only it rarely happens, it's usually solved in the same day. I'm pretty sure most people here are, most of the time, always able to stay connected, so I don't really see how this should be an issue. Maybe if you are constantly traveling and is always on the road where you won't have connection... but then again, you can still use steam offline and still have some of your GOG games pre-installed as well.
But yeah. I don't find physical copies appealing. They are nuisance to deal with.
edit: btw, just noticed that this thread was necroed by the other dude. oh well. sorry about that.
You forget the whole "GOG randomly breaks" issue. But yeah, at least it's not like steam where if your net it out you cannot play any games at all.
