But getting 'mad' (in public) about not getting something that was never promised, I'd call that entitlement. GOG releases old games for modern operating systems (mostly Windows though). For original releases (inc. copy protection) -> see archive.org

Though for DOS games, 99% of it was literally copy/extract and then running the setup.exe file before going to the main game. There isn't much you're probably missing.
Though have you first looked in the game folders? 99% of the time people won't look but the setup/config files tend to already be there, you just gotta run Dosbox without it running the batch file to run the game and exit after.

For example I want to play some of these games on Android. Everything works quite fine there, except I have to find the EXE files from somewhere like 'abandonware' which causes either things not running - you can get a SETUP.EXE and nothing happens. While if they come with the GOG version, where they added audio (as a kid I was playing some games in formats like abandonware - no audio no sound), and you get the proper EXE,DAT files, one may get things working than taking the files from possibly another version of teh game.
Oh I remember maybe dosgamesarchive com offers them that way or used to be another place to buy

I'd say that your expectation (as related to the GOG Store) is unrealistic.
GOG hasn't promised to "preserve all the original files".
Rather, they've done exactly the opposite (from the GOG About page:
Upgrading classics for present-day. Even if the game is older than you are, we test it thoroughly, fix all the bugs, and apply patches so it runs flawlessly on your next-gen PC and on modern OSs.
While I "feel" for your predicament, that "expectation" isn't going to met at GOG.

This GOG way just hides everything saves, exe's and enforces its own way negating any other old ways to use a save file
, it's my complaint but I guess I will have to work around

Yes, that adventure game that made the SAV file, you have it right? Why don't you use it to load that same save file? Why do you need the GOG scummvm version? That was my initial question.

So which game are you talking about? Did you check the game specific forum here on GOG? PCGaming wiki? The dosbox website?
So... Windows 10, integrated sound chip I assume. Do you have this sound problem with all (GOG) dosbox games?
You could try this (first google result I came across):
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/no_sound_on_any_dosbox_games_win7_64bit_realtek_digital_output
To add/edit the environment variables: press Start button: type environment ... press Enter.

About getting ScummVM to recognize your old saved games, an option like that exists in ScummVM, I don't know if it's available for all games, but here's how you do it:
Run your game with ScummVM, press Ctrl+F5 for options menu, click on Return to Launcher, then click on Edit Game... and in the Engine tab check the 'Use original save/load screens' option.

Ya know even modern PC games I play have their save games on files, this 'hide everything' is UNEXPLAINED
At least the game works on Scummv on Android with sound. It can be started over
Now an older RPG game where it is more than halfway through the game.. no way this Scummv cant read saves, that's where I go on with the Dosbox
