Never wasted a dime on Steam
When I started buying games for my computer (I use to only play on my xbox 360 before that), I came across GOG and the free games they had. So I signed up and got a few free games! At that point, being a console only player, I had no clue what DRM was, but I quickly learned from the forums and have been using GOG ever since! :P I have never even been on the steam website before and I do not plan on ever using it. If a game I want isn't available here, well I just hope one day it will be available here and in the mean time I have so many other games to play and finish anyways! :P
I have never boycotted Steam, except for maybe that one time on facebook I bragged about GOG being cheaper.
Oddly enough I found GOG thanks to a review on Steam which said the controls were awful because Steam does not fix the old games in any way. That's when I found out not only that Doom was cheaper on GOG, but also that it came with two Elder Scrolls games for free. Haven't used Steam ever since.
And I also hate how you have to log in every time you're going to play a game on Steam. It takes like an hour, even if what you want is to play unconnected.

I suppose I am technically boycotting steam by not having an account.
I purchase my games exclusively on GOG but do buy games for friends on Steam if they insist that they want to have their games there. I always offer to buy them from here first, of course. I am a tad conflicted about it all, however.

On one hand, GOG is free of filthy DRM and is all about options. Galaxy, for example, is optional, and the features within are optional as well. Being able to turn off achievements and game time tracking is a blessing for my soul. I can enjoy gaming again! You see, ignoring achievements and game time tracking is not an option. Turning them off entirely is the right way to go. Out of sight, out of mind. Steam just does not let one do that and that irks me greatly.

On the other hand, Steam is actually available on Linux, unlike Galaxy, and Valve has the vast majority of its games on Linux, unlike CD Projekt Red. On top of that, Valve is really pushing the development of the Linux ecosystem, hiring developers for the open source graphics drivers, encouraging the use of the Vulkan API, and more. I may not buy games from Steam for myself, but I do have a Steam Controller and will gift games via Steam if friends request it. Apart from Galaxy missing on Linux, you often find games missing their Linux clients on GOG as well, despite being readily available on Steam.

In conclusion, both platforms have their advantages. If GOG could get its Linux support sorted, it would be the perfect platform. Until then, I will support Steam in other ways that do not involve buying games for myself.

Your thread title.

You do know it's here, right?

I can't afford it so I need to pass for now.

I do, I just haven't updated it yet.
I have hated steam ever since it started. It comes from a dislike of DRM and in particular online activation. Furthermore I don't like the idea of a program running in the background that uses up valuable computer power that could be used on the game. As we all know computer games are a demanding program which pushes a computer's power to the limit. The steam program takes away computer power that could be used to make my game look better and run smoother.

I've always avoided buying games on steam if possible. But I've bought about a dozen or so games that must be used on steam only because if was a game I really wanted to play and it was only available through steam. For example I think Borderlands 2 and Bioshock 2 fall into this category. It's a long time since I bought a game that must be activated via steam and I don't plan to buy any more.
Steam isn't that bad, Except for the achievements for an OLD codger like me their almost impossible for me to get them it's very annoying wish there was a silent way to get them or an opt out button for them because unlike children with all the time on their hands I have very LIMITED TIME on my hands!

I also particularly Dislike those times where I tried to get a Achievement and Can't for the love of god manage to get it because my body and reflexes doesn't work as fast as they used to!

Steam is perfectly fine as long as you fit into a certain stereotype (single user) and only use Steam as Valve dictates. Deviate from that and suddenly its design becomes near unusable.

I just click on the games I wanna play and that's all I do I do NOT interact with others that I do not know!

That DO NOT fully understand me

Most users on the internet DO NOT understand what it feels like to have Asperger's and be socially deficient!
NO self diagnoses DOESN'T COUNT you MUST get a MEDICAL diagnoses!

Wife has ASD diagnosis, I have ADD and posible ASD (its a lot of hassle to get a diagnosis as an adullt), 4 of our 5 children are diagnosed ASD and the 5th likely has but she deals with it and doesn't want to go through the diagnosis.

Believe me, I know about our Autism.... that said, I know nothing about your Autism.

Everyone is effected differently and its really annoying when someone says they understand "your" autism, they don't, not until they get to know you.

Exactly and I hate it when people say "I know what you're going through" NO THEY REALLY DON'T! I also get annoyed when people think I'm being rude when they are the ones being rude and getting banned from various internet places because crazy SJW and FEMINST HYPER SNOWFLAKE moderators (Like the ones on quora and "OTHER PLACES" for example) think you are Violating their ridiculous policies life isn't black and white you can't always be nice and respectful when your surrounded by nasty Neurotypicals shoving their demented agenda's down your throats!
