arsalan12: I just don't understand why they are remastering Horizon Zero Dawn. It doesn't even need it.
avatar
Time4Tea: Because Sony don't have any better ideas. So their developers have to justify their jobs somehow ...
yea, like why don't they throw out a movie or something.... I would watch!!

Let's ignore for a moment that Sony would most likely cast Leslie Jones as Alloy, one does not simple "throw out" a movie featuring giant robot dinosaurs. A good low-budget version would be like Love & Monsters, cost well into 8 figures, and leave us bitterly wanting more; but the more likely scenario (even if they cast it properly) is spending $200 million for the same success as Tom Holland's Uncharted.
I am expecting ray tracing and a PSN login requirement.

renegade042: Hm...FW does have a PC release :P
Lol damn, my mistake. Seems to have released on PC March of this year but wouldnt be surprised if the majority of those sales have been concluded by now though. Maybe we will hear numbers after the end of this year.

EverNightX: They have to recoup all the Concord money.
Pretty sure Horizon Zero Dawn remaster was in the works for a while before the Concord debacle. Horizon Zero Dawn was removed from PS Plus extra in May of this year and given the only other first party game removed at that time was Marvel's Spiderman which also got a remaster, it fueled further speculation that Sony was working on an HZD remaster.
[Audible shrugging]

idbeholdME: The important question - are they going to retroactively add "Fatloy" to the first game? Would be hilarious if they did :P
No, the other way. They'll make her buttocks huge, like one of those Korean MMOs.

I did enjoy Uncharted!

Just searched for Sony movies and almost fell off my chair for the amount of movies those guys release....

Another search revealed Leslie Jones as a big boned American of probable African descendant, was that a woke joke?

I did have a movie in mind when i posted my reply. Monster Hunter. Nothing too serious and certainly not to big budget

Concord cost approximately 400 Million dollars. About 200 Million when it was still in Alpha and was terrible, hence they spent an additional 200 million to try and make it viable. They've known for a long time it was a financial problem.

God damn 400M and 8 years for that? Must have been in dev hell for a while. I honestly cant judge whether the gameplay itself was good since I havent played it and am honestly not really an FPS player but damn, if it was that much of a sink then yeah, Sony was probably readying these remasters to offset the cost even if it was a big success. Would not be surprised if Firewalk closed down and absorbed into another studio.

While there have been some great games for 2024, there were also some huge stinkers.
Why don't they just re-release "rain" on disc for the PS5 fixed up with big RT support? Re-release "Puppeteer" lowkey along with a bunch of other PSN games that don't work as well for remasters. Include Skyhawk, Warhawk on this. For Motorstorm remaster the whole series from the PS3 onwards. How about "Sorcery" with non-move controls as well? Also throw all the Sports Champion games on VR too.

But a remaster of the first Horizon is utter stupidity and I can't see any valid reason for it.

Oddeus: More important question - will we be able to choose a female character this time?
Flip a coin wait a bit and see. All will be revealed in time, bruh.

Even more important: Will the remaster of the third Horizon game come out before the original version?

Technically it's even more than 400 million (600-700?), if you factor in the price tag for which Sony had acquired the Concord developer, Firewalk studios.

They were actually working on a Horizon TV show over at Netflix. Apparently it's no longer moving forward, but given the reason, I'd assume they will eventually continue it with a different showrunner.

Azrastrelcy: Honestly there really comes a point when gaming companies just need to stop making remastered versions of their newer games. Like Horizon Zero Dawn still looks good, there really isn't any need for a remaster, especially when they're just gonna add ray tracing and very minor addition of details and charge them at full price.
i agree.

I love remasters, especially if they are for games which run broken in modern systems.

but something new like HZD? a great beautiful game as is?

heck no. maybe a paid dlc? sure why not. but whole game at full price. thats garbage.

Netflix eh?! Why not and why not once without all the melodrama.... Sjeez... it is everywhere. Netflix probably will go forward with a Hell Diver thing too once Amazon get's their hands on that Warhammer bizz... If they ever of course
