Some do have quantitatively more content than past games, yes! And I'm sorry a better paced RPG isn't your cup of tea. To each their own, but I think you're still missing my point. Yes, you didn't often get 100 hour experiences back then unless you milked some post game content, but again, I'm not talking about the quantity of content. I'm talking about the state in which games are released today vs PS2/Gamecube era. Therefore I am comparing 20-40 hour experiences from back then to 20-40 hour experiences today. Hell, even games with 10 hours of content or less are released unfinished today, and fixed later. Back to the Cult of the Lamb example, they literally released HALF their game first, and added the other half in later, not counting the bug that prevented even finishing the first half. If they released that game on the PS2 in that state, it would receive abysmal reviews and forever be regarded as one of the worst games of all time, and rightfully so! They would have instead had to take the extra time to finish making the damn thing, with extensive testing before releasing it. I miss when gaming companies had to take that extra time and and make that extra effort to make sure a game was finished and polished before selling it.
