What's the name of the company?
I need to be sure who I'm not supporting.

It's more like "with brand you were unlucky" in most cases as DOA etc. happens to everyone.
But yea, for me it would be Asus, had few things from them (gpu and mobo mostly) and always had some problems with them. Also, heard very bad opinions about their warranty service.

Recently MSI but it's more about MSI poland than their product overall.

I'm not fond of Apple due the support of older OS version... I get it that the phone is no longer supported because it's old but atleast let me download older version of app that worked without any problems. (well it's an old rant, maybe something changed)...

I agree, you make one bad experience and it taints your look at that manufacturer and everybody made different experiences as your example of Asus shows. I use a ton of Asus products because they work, i never had a single issue with them, be it their Mainboards, their graphic cards or even their DVD drives. Where i experienced bad issues with MSI Mainboards, other graphic cards (see below) and DVD Drives falling apart fast (like Toshiba and Sony). Even my old PC with an Geforce 3 and a Socket A mainboard from Asus is still running strong

There are companies i always had problems with though:

ATI - I had several ATI cards. The drivers back then were a nightmare. You install it, everything seems to go fine, then the PC crashed, a blue screen would apppear or games wouldn't work. Re-install the drivers and hope it got fixed. Their GPU Recovery thing they had in the mid-2000 was a nightmare too, it would constantly kick me out of CS.
And i had my worst experience with a Radeon 9800 Pro (was from Sapphire) where the entire fan simply fell off the card which subsequently overheated and died.

Infineon - Did their Ram ever work?

Single bad experiences that drove me away:

IBM - the "legendary" Deskstar HDD. Ugh.

I can't remember the name, something with C in the beginning (not Corsair!), it was a Power Supply. It literally exploded, filling my case with black smoke and subsequently killing the mainboard battery, the graphic card and a fan. It was the worst experience i ever had but it was my own fault, i should've never bought anything else than Seasonic.

And of course Apple. All the reasons have been told, from their image to their behaviour there's nothing you can like about that company. I had a iBook that made me wonder why people say that MacOS is better than Windows. I work as a game developer, last year there was a huge debate wether our next game should be produced on Windows or Apple Computers. Thankfully Windows won.

Why not just do both?

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I saw this thread and pondered whether or not to say anything here because I figured no matter what anyone posts as a company they've had a bad experience with, 10 others will say "I've never had any problems" and potentially argue with each other. Having said that though, the first thing that came to my mind in microseconds after reading the title of the thread was:

"Ugh... Razer Razer Razer, FPOS Razer" :)

So after 10 minutes I braved opening up the thread and read the first post and it starts off with "Razer" LOL

So, I will have to now come to the table and echo the negative sentiment towards Razer. I bought a $130 or so Razer Naga Epic MMO super holy shit everything wired+wireless mouse a few years ago and it "looks pretty" and has cool sounding features on paper. Then you actually install their software and plug it in and it forces you to either create an online account to store your mouse profiles "in the cloud" mandatory for no sensible reason *or* at your option you can simply not use any of the advanced features on the mouse and use it with the OS supplied shitty 3 button mouse driver and throw away the rest of the buttons and shit you bought it for. The other option was calling their tech support located in India on the other end of a shitty unreliable VoIP connection that hung up on the call about 50 times and having them go through their little step by step guide on how to blame the problem on the customer or their computer instead of taking responsibility for buggy ass software, before finally telling me I could download an old unsupported version of the software that doesn't force you to be online to use your damn mouse. So I used the old shitty unsupported software. It was buggy as hell too but not quite as buggy as the "Synapse" crap.

I had to reboot my computer every few days and sometimes multiple times a day because of the mouse driver crashing and the mouse becoming non-responsive. After about 11 months when I went to sit the mouse on the recharger it went black (LEDs all turned off) and it never came back on. It simply died a permanent death.

Shitty hardware, shitty software, shitty support, overpriced overhyped product that underperformed.

I bought a Logitech G600 to replace it and while it is wired-only it is super reliable, has extra buttons (3 more additional ones than the Razer), the software is much more stable and reliable (although it isn't without bugs either), and has a built in scripting language (LUA) for extreme power user level of configuration (see my Witcher 3 G600 config in the forums for some LUA fancy sauce). Like everything I've ever bought, owned or used that was made by Logitech (which is dozens of things across the spectrum of products they make), it has been pure awesome and if it ever does die or get broken, I'll be buying another one ASAP. Logitech FTW!

Shit, this is so therapeutic reading everyone else's more or less identical crappy experiences and opinions of Razer. I feel like I'm healing from the suffering Razer caused me now. :)

The weird thing is, that some folks, despite their complaining of their crappy Razer mouse when it dies, will go right out & buy another.
A cronie is on his second or third Razer mmo mouse & second set of Carcharias lol.

What's wrong with MSI? I am thinking of buying an 18 inch laptop end of the year / next year and only MSI or Alienware has them

They support unauthorized resellers like G2A and bad customer support. Their products tend to work fine though. Is there a benefit to an 18" over a 17" for you? I've never heard of that before. :P

I never had a 18' so I had been curious to try. Had you tried 18' and 17'? are they almost the same?

Apple - low grade products with ridiculously high price, no USB, bad UI, also I don't like that it profiles itself as a cult
Nvidia - bad quality graphic cards all died on me under a year since purchase, also very bad linux drivers
Motorola phones - very bad ui and countless "are you sure you wan't to press that" questions
Samsung smarthphones - very little or no os upgrade options for older smarthphones
Microsoft Hardware - total rubbish
Lenovo - spyware preinstalled
HP - very low grade laptops, highly overpriced

It's not like AMD prides itself on its Linux drivers. :P

There's so many things wrong with the electronics branch, that it's hard to summarize, but foremost what's wrong is unfair mining, planned obsolescence and bad and underpaid working conditions in the factories.

Definitely true. Neither have decent Linux drivers at this point. Be it open source or propriertary.

Hm? I have the most terrible experience with AMD graphics drivers (WinXP and Linux), but Nvidia's proprietary Linux driver runs extremely well (Geforce GTX 750). I finished Shadow Warrior 2013 and Trine 2 in highest settings on my 2008 triple core system with it.
