With <span class="bold">GWENT</span> update 0.8.37, our main goal was to address a set of important issues that have recently come to light, including the use of Mardroeme to get an auto-win after not choosing a target for the Mutagen card. This was not how we intended for the card to work and was something that required our immediate attention, because of the effect it was having on ranked play.

Other issues that have been addressed in update 0.8.37 include server errors caused by killing Morkvarg on 2 Strength and playing 3 Reinforced Ballistas and Redanian Elites. These actions should no longer cause the game to desynchronize.
I just played an opponent named fsociety122. Everytime this opponent was supposed to choose a card to move to graveyard, they allowed time to lapse, and got an increase in points, but never lost any cards from hand.

Really frustrating.
I do not even look anymore at their patch notes, they proved how hard they suck at balancing when they changed scoia'tael cards.

blotunga: I was just playing along. Though Monsters got some annoying additions lately, like resurecting from the opponents graveyard, which hammered my skelligans last time, but I think Scoiatel wss even more OP last time. Those buffed dwarfs are almost impossible to stop. Except with maybe weather which I rarely use.
Ambush man... A lot of ambush... I think, remove 2 or maximum 3 s. is more than enough... I mean, they can rape your deck if you are under 14-15 lvl...
avatar
Cabaal73: I can agree with that but the problem is how to measure "strenght" of the deck.
With the higher level of the opponet you can expect better deck.
On those 2 occasion:
against Nortern realms deck - after 5 cards oponnent have 4 infantries buffed nad 2 of them wento on to the second round - first round he won 128 - to 34, second he stared with advantage 68 points.... I was helpless.
against Skellige I couldnt get above 10 points in each of the 2 round

Matchmaking sould prevent occuring such a ancounters.

On the other hand - I lost to the player with 1 st lev - he has very strong deck with Keyran and other gold and silver cards - I assume he has bought it direct from the card shop :)

adaliabooks: It's a tough one, but I agree with blotunga, level doesn't really mean much. You can lose 100 games and gain quite a few levels, doesn't mean you are any good as a player.
Casual games (as I understand it) shouldn't care about your skill or your opponents so you are matched with anyone, whereas Ranked games are based on your wins / loses so you should be more evenly matched (in skill if not in cards).
I was already past level 10 when they introduced Ranked games so I'm not sure if they are available from the start or not.

As for the strength of a deck... some kind of count of card rarity and rank (bronze, silver and gold) would be a start, but you'd also have to take into account things like number of cards (is a bigger deck better or worse? most people seem to prefer small decks but any algorithm counting number of rare cards is likely to class a bigger deck as stronger). I doubt counting actual strength is worth it as a strong card with no ability can often be much less useful than a weak one with a great ability.
I think, dosent matter what cards you have, you can't do nothing against fortuna. It's fustrating, but it's so beautiful in this game. And in this case, you must play your all round as tehy are your last rounds.
(sry for my english)

Fuck this game keeps crushing. lost 10 rounds in a row because ofconnection problems. the game simply gets stuck.
Get some of these missing patches and content, please: https://www.gog.com/mix/games_that_treat_gog_customers_as_second_class_citizens
after completing a tier not getting rewards example reeward was decoy card but there is non one on my deck and other cards too
So, if anyone out there has a beta access code for this I'd love to try it. I *think* I'm about ready to take the plunge and reading these threads sort of tempts me to dive in.

Make sure you ask me by PM first though - I'm still on the fence about Galaxy and I'm subject to change my mind about whether or not I want to use it by the time I'm offered a code.

As an aside, if I do get Galaxy can I have it "leave alone" my installed GoG games? I don't want it to autodetect and start installing / reinstalling / downloading / moving etc my already installed games.

And finally, can we pick players to have games with? If I want to have a "friendly" match to learn the ropes with "User X" can we set that up? Or is it all handled through official matchmaking? If not, does it involve the friends list? I currently don't use it (the forum version - obviously I don't use the Galaxy friends list either LOL).
Good, now please bring us Linux support. :)

blotunga: I usually play skellige, and don't really like weather, especially frost. Monsters however can counter it easily, they have actually to much weather on their side. This is why actually I dislike monsters.
avatar
adaliabooks: Yeah, weather is my least favourite aspect of the game. Can really screw over a number of strategies...
I don't play as Monsters much (yet to get enough decent cards from boosters to make a good deck) but I play against them a lot. It gets a bit boring because most decks seem to go for the same strategies.
I d like weather cards to have something like a duration (3 rounds or something), so there is a "window". I didn't play the last two patches though so maybe the game evolved for the better. Point is : I have ideas for fun decks, but I don't put them in application because they would have no chance against a *weather-ed* (round of applause) deck.

Haven't got a spare code unfortunately but I can answer some questions.

Technically I think you can, but it may depend on a few things. Most of my Gog games aren't added but it did auto add Halcyon 6 and Divinity OS, probably because they were quite new installers, without any input from me. You can of course turn off auto updates (individually for each game, the global switch hasn't been implemented yet) so you can stop it effecting any games it does happen to pick up.

You can, but it is based on the Gog / Galaxy friends list. I haven't tried it yet so I don't know how it works as far as rewards etc. go but the option is there.
Most games will be played against random strangers through the ranked or casual matches.

Yeah, just something to help counter it. Considering you can have at least 9 (plus the dual weather cards and any monster weather spawners) weather cards in a deck if you wanted they so a hell of a lot of damage. And if you haven't got a clear sky card or card advantage you're basically screwed... Even if you manage to clear weather you don't get any buffs back.

adaliabooks:
Awesome thanks for the into / tips / pointers!

So it sounds like if I do grab Galaxy to try this, and I'm not interested in using updates it's as easy as 1) installing Galaxy 2) while offline checking to see what games were auto-added to Galaxy and 3) then turning off automatic updates.

I don't have to worry about Galaxy trying to move / redownload games and installing them in a "Galaxy" directory?

Yeah, going offline is probably best as it has a tendency to redownload stuff sometimes, but it might be alright with stuff that it auto adds (as they will be more up to date installers).

Any already installed games won't be moved, but it may attempt to update them and download a lot of stuff (not sure how fixed that element of it is as I know it did use to frequently redownload newly added games even if they were up to date)
