Ghorpm: How about Prince of Persia 3D? You are in a prison at the beginning, you can use bow with various arrows and this weapon was not featured in other games, the game was buggy (I had by far more problems with it then you) and it's considered to be worst from the series so it fits to your description.

ZFR: Yes, how about Prince of Persia 3D?
(The only bug I encountered was that the moving platforms in the final areas of the game would not move sometimes. As I said, all I did to fix it is save and reload).

Your turn.
There were several point where my game crashed no matter what. I had to use skip level cheat so I missed some parts of the game and skipping a level instantly gave you an access to every weapon and healed you so some fun was ruined too (I wasn't using new weapons until I got them properly but still). I enjoyed the game nonetheless.

I'll post something soon.
Here it is:

So, bad guys kidnapped my little brother. I have to save him. But first, I need some help in my quest. I go to that old, mysterious place, use my wits to unlock it and then I have to wake up an ancient creature and convince him to help me. We'll have to make a special bond so that killing any of us will kill the other one too. But man, it is totally worth it! My ally is so powerful! Wee! I believe I can fly!

Drakan! Drakan!

(alright, it was here already but a Drakan reference is always great! :))

And why oh, why this game is not on GOG yet? One of my favorite action games ever! Your turn :)

It was originally published by Psygnosis which means that Sony have got their hands on it, never to be seen again! Sadly
Actually, I assume that's why the 2nd Draken was a PlayStation exclusive too! Boo!
(yeah, yours was probably a rhetorical question but I couldn't resist the chance to bitch and vent, sorry!)

It would be so awesome if we got it.

Anyway, here I go - I am one of the best, bestest RPGs made for my platform.

I must stop stop them from lightning the beacons, otherwise the world will be thrown into peril!

Is it the original Golden Sun?

(haven't played it, since I'm not a console person)

Yep, and I heartily recommend playing it, it's really, really good. It's got a great plot, music and graphics, various secrets spread along both games and doesn't have those tedious moments like most other GBA (or other) RPGs have where you are stuck running around grinding or doing boring stuff, it's got a very good curve of combat/plot/puzzles.

It even has puzzles you have to solve to move forward as well as some optional ones to get extra stuff along with a very nice combat system which includes summoning spells and different classes and magic by equipping different Djinni elementals. Did I mention the summons have wonderful cutscenes each time you summon their attack? (it's skippable though, so you don't have to watch it everytime)

If I get a GBA I'll give it a try, heard good things about it. But... as I said, I don't really like consoles.

Here goes:

HELP! I survived spiders dropping from above, jumping green slime, leaping werewolves and knives that I mistook for ladders, but this indestructible flaming scull is too much. It's slow and steady and whenever I pass it and go up, I know that the moment I miss a jumping puzzle I'll fall right on it.

Could you describe yourself?

Sanjuro: Could you describe yourself?
I'm flattered, but I'd rather describe the protagonist of the game.

He's a guy appearing to be in his early 20s. What stands out most about his attire is the red cap. He's also wearing jeans.

Heh. Caught me. :-)
Is it Dangerous Dave?

It is indeed, but can you guess the exact game?

O.O Er-r-r-r, are there two of them?

That's the one.

There are 4 main games (Haunted Mansion is the second one) + other ports and a demo that id used to show off their new Commander Keen engine.
