tfishell: Over 530 votes, I hope GOG will let it show up or at least spotlight it
Should be a no-brainer really, both from the technical side of things (as far as maintaining/updating/pushing GoG builds is concerned) and in regards to bringing the respective original base game back into the focus of the public eye again.
Especially now with The Chronicles of Myrtana: Archolos having successfully set a precedent here.
Here's hoping for
Legend of Ahssun and
Dzieje Khorinis/History of Khorinis (once it's finished) to make their way onto GoG too.
Swedrami: 3 and a half minutes of the overhauled Temple of the Sleeper:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IyAGQ0MgCo According to a comment by the project's lead, ThielHater, the last section including the final meeting with Xardas and the following fight against the Sleeper (plus testing if the puzzles still work) are the only things left to do.
Cadaver747: That's awesome news, there is a good chance I could play Gothic Reloaded this summer!
Specifically holding off on doing another playthrough of Gothic 1 for that reason. Hopefully for not too much longer now.
Cadaver747: Strange how some(sic!) old games are better in so many ways than the new games.
I think that's entirely down to designers/developers these days thinking of most of the players as drooling lobotomised idiots that need their hands held all the time and under no circumstances should be subjected to challenges, efforts or experiences in general that might lead to frustration and abandonment of the game in question.
Cadaver747: Too bad that JoWood didn't fund the addon/expansion for Gothic 1 along with so needed patches for cut content, and almost all of original development team left the company, Gothic 2 is a nice game but Gothic 1 still the best of series (in my opinion).
Yep, I'd really like someone, either in an official or unofficial capacity (the Legend of Ahssûn, History of Khorinis or Archolos devs maybe?) to have a go at salvaging the remaining assets (of which there are a few, including new enemy creatures and NPCs) and with those/from there put together something that could serve as the official Gothic 1 expansion we never got.
