According to a comment by the project's lead, ThielHater, the last section including the final meeting with Xardas and the following fight against the Sleeper (plus testing if the puzzles still work) are the only things left to do.
That's awesome news, there is a good chance I could play Gothic Reloaded this summer! Strange how some(sic!) old games are better in so many ways than the new games. Too bad that JoWood didn't fund the addon/expansion for Gothic 1 along with so needed patches for cut content, and almost all of original development team left the company, Gothic 2 is a nice game but Gothic 1 still the best of series (in my opinion).

Should be a no-brainer really, both from the technical side of things (as far as maintaining/updating/pushing GoG builds is concerned) and in regards to bringing the respective original base game back into the focus of the public eye again.
Especially now with The Chronicles of Myrtana: Archolos having successfully set a precedent here.

Here's hoping for Legend of Ahssun and Dzieje Khorinis/History of Khorinis (once it's finished) to make their way onto GoG too.

Specifically holding off on doing another playthrough of Gothic 1 for that reason. Hopefully for not too much longer now.

I think that's entirely down to designers/developers these days thinking of most of the players as drooling lobotomised idiots that need their hands held all the time and under no circumstances should be subjected to challenges, efforts or experiences in general that might lead to frustration and abandonment of the game in question.

Yep, I'd really like someone, either in an official or unofficial capacity (the Legend of Ahssûn, History of Khorinis or Archolos devs maybe?) to have a go at salvaging the remaining assets (of which there are a few, including new enemy creatures and NPCs) and with those/from there put together something that could serve as the official Gothic 1 expansion we never got.

i will support that
On the occasion of the original Gothic turning 22 the gallery on the Gothic Reloaded Mod website has been updated with 22 new albums containing over 400 pictures documenting the project's progress over the past 2 years.

Still being worked on, by the way:

ThielHater, 17.07.2023: "Thank you for your continued interest in our project and for overcome the hurdle to register at World of Gothic. We would also like to bring the GRM to an end. As you can see the timestamps in our gallery, we are still progressing. We have already thought about what shortcuts we can take by not revising some parts or by using content from other projects, for example for the vegetation. Last year I invested quite some time to create a new, team-internal demo, which gives all members an overview of the current state and start some debate. We are planning a meeting this September to reconnect and discuss the future of our project."
Why this over OpenGothic?
Because besides compatibility improvements it's also replacing the original muddy textures with crisper ones and dialing up the polygon count on the world geometry and object meshes, making everything look a little less "late 90s/early 2000s blocky".

Darvond: Why this over OpenGothic?
OpenGothic is primarily for G2(NotR). G1 support is barebones, undertested, and many scripts don't work correctly.

For non-Muttersprachlers:

A video update (on the progress) had to be scrapped and started over, two new screenshots as a consolation:

Focus is on getting Gothic Reloaded over the finish line with lots and lots of polishing the world geometry mesh, as well as putting the final touches on the textures, and start internal beta testing soon.
