mrkgnao: * Regional price for Dead Synchronicity Soundtrack [DLC] in GB: $27.89 instead of $3.99
avatar
PaterAlf: This must be the most excessive regional pricing I've ever seen. Either it's a bug or Daedalic has gone completely crazy.
I assumed that was a mistake, yet it hasn't been updated. Even so, surely it must be an error? they can’t seriously think that’s justifiable?

It's an obvious bug (which I failed to notice, thanks).

Perhaps IAmSinistar should add it to his "The GOG Change Tracker" thread: First Bug on GOG!

Newsworthy indeed.

I too bought more games on GOG in the past, but I wonder if this is a general pattern. With new customers growing up and more games and retail dying out in favor of digital one should think that sales (and profit) of GOG steadily increases. But I remember vaguely from their last quarterly report that sales on GOG in 2014 were kind of stagnating. Is the growth phase over or does my memory play a trick on me?

The last quarter report for 2014 that would show what happened after regional pricing introduction, movie introduction and big number of indie games released after August 2014 is still not available. But yes up to August 2014 sales were stagnating.
To be honest, most of the price updates seems to be price reductions for East European Countries with a much lower general income. I'm perfectly fine with this, because "one world = one price" was always unfair for customers from this countries.

Nobody is disputing that the prices are fairer for a small part of East European Countries at this point. Question is why they aren't fairer for other low income countries too?

The price must be fair. Period.
You know that you can speculate on "richer" countries, so price go up.
You know that you can't speculate on "poorer" countries, so price go down.
Since everyone speculate on "richer" contries, everyone is poorer anyway.

Alongside this, as soon as you apply regional prices a feel ripped of for paying much more fo something that is, obviously, worth much less.

They are telling us! How? With the prices!
Look my game is worth X for you, rich guy, but I can leave on with X-40%.

Look the other way around? You are making gaming possible for other countries fulfilling the bill for them.
This alone make me stop buying games.

mrkgnao: [...]

- Finally, because of the GOG Y1K bug, MaGog cannot access the regional pricing information for Zombie Shooter 2, Zork Anthology, Zork Nemesis, and Zork Grand Inquisitor (the list will grow longer as GOG adds games, if they do not fix their bug), so their regional prices on MaGog are incorrect. If you care about this, please send a message to support. I already sent one 24 hours ago, but perhaps if more will do the same, they will fix it.

jadeite: The Australian economy must be totally awesome if it has to be compensated with prices that high.
It's at the end of an unprecedented mining boom and the value of the currency has dropped by more than 30% in the last 2 years. Thus far the exporting of mineral resources had buoyed the economy during the worst of the GFC, but China has greatly reduced its demand. Now cracks are appearing and fiscal planning must be prudent and unpopular if the country is going to emerge unscathed.

That being said, it still kicks Hungary's posterior...
Does reminding them of it while pissing on their parade also count?
