While Magog was Cookieless in Gaza, GOG apparently carried out another (unannounced?) conversion rate change.



From MaGog's logs for 16 March:

Another conversion rate change; another bagload of regional USD price adjustments. See attached file (change jpg to txt) for the gory details. I no longer see the point of listing games that temporarily enter or exit regional pricing in specific regions by mere coincidence of the current conversion rate, so I will only list true highlights from now on.

Highlights:
- The following game is now no longer regionally priced in RU/UA/UZ: SimCity™ 4 Deluxe Edition ($19.99 instead of $5.19), making it --- rather surprisingly --- flat-priced



- Overall, the USD prices of regionally priced games have increased in AU/NZ/RU/UA/UZ
- Overall, the USD prices of regionally priced games have decreased in CH/CZ/DE/GB/IT/MC/NL/NO/PL/SE

Nice to see the AAAs back to gouging AU...

And to think there were people who put forward convoluted conspiracy theories about GOG undermining third party initiatives like MaGog... :P

I don't know about the general forum, but the conversion rate change was anoounced in the German forum two days ago (which is strange, because for Germans nothing changed):

And it seems GOG fixed the pricing for Sheltered. At least in Romania the undiscounted price is $14.99 now (it was $19.99 before).

It's not exactly accurate that nothing changed for Germans. The way GOG reports changes is misleading. They just list the rates for $5.99 and $9.99, where indeed there was no change for Germans this time. But for most higher price points, there was definitely a slight change for all EU countries.

Are you sure? Neither MaGog nor I see that. I just changed my cookie to RO_USD_en in Firefox and I see $19.99.

Yeah, should list the actual rate. I mean, from the $9.99 one above, it'd result $1 = 0.90 EUR = 0.70 GBP = 1.32 AUD = 70 RUB, but at higher values some small differences may pop up if we don't get the actual values they work with.

Your, er, fast travel services must not be working right. Try to check out and see where it says you certify you're currently in.

What's your gog_lc cookie? (assuming you didn't eat it)

Checked it and it was indeed US_USD_en. Seems I can't set my program to Romania. Works fine for other countries though.
