GameRager: Is it a good game? I like SP and always wanted to play it.

Also i'd like Nocturne/Blair Witch Trilogy.
It's like playing a really, really long South Park episode with jRPG-ish battles. I loved it.

morolf: They simulate abortion in that?
That sounds pretty tasteless even for South Park's standards.
SP had a holiday episode with abortion as a main theme.

avatar
GameRager: So it's a cultural issue and it can lead to problems with discussions? This I can agree with somewhat.
avatar
morolf: It's a political issue, stop pretending otherwise.
And no offense, but you also shouldn't forget that this is an international forum (and one about gaming, not politics!). I'm pretty tired of Americans and their stupid tribal battles over abortion, gay marriage etc. You're not necessarily the worst offender (tinyE with his Trump derangement syndrome is annoying as well), but imo it does get tiresome seeing that stuff brought up again and again.
To me it isn't, while to you it is.

As for the forums...I repsect others by keeping such topics to limited posts and to my own threads. I don't dump themn in other's threads all the time out of respect for those other people.

GameRager: It may be be held with various stances with various parties and be political for some but to me that's not talk about(gov't) politics imo. If GOG said not to mention it I would stop, to be fair/fwiw.
This is why I have trouble taking you seriously. I've never met anyone who thinks the abortion issue is NOT political. It's up there in top-10 most political topics one could discuss (I'd argue top 3) that usually leads to regret or heated arguments.

HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW THIS? Are you a clone? Did they thaw you out last week?

avatar
GameRager: As for identity politics...do what I do...just ignore topics(from anyone) you dislike as long as staff is ok with them. IMo we'd all get along more here if we all did that.
If your argument is that politics should be allowed, that's one thing and I can respect your opinion about it. The issue is that they cracked down on these very topics some time ago. Many people got warnings and temporary bans over less incendiary topics than the ones you post about.

So, I don't know about everyone else, but I'm asking myself if the rules still apply or not. I've got some political topics I'd love to start spamming the forums over. After all, if people don't like it they could just ignore them.

And to me the topic of Islam and the dangers of it are neither religious or political in nature.

So... I guess I should go post a topic about it...

First off you know I have PM so why not continue this there? As for politics I didn't day or try to deny the issue can be held as political or used as such by some in various parties, but it is not politics related(gov't system/parties/politicians talk is what I consider to be that or stories on such) imo...at least not with how I interpret the policies here.

(They are vague, as I said)

Also are you trying to say everything current events related or talked about by any party/person in office is political/shouldn't be discussed? Because that's cut back on much people talk about here or could tlak about.
==========================
My stance is that what GOG says goes, but that the rules seemingly don't mean social politics and to me that means they're ok(unless staff say otherwise or the rules are updated) for now.

Again fo what you feel is right....if you make any threads and they are not rule breaking/interesting I might contribute and I will ignore anything I find objectionable.

==========================
That is fine with me, but i'd make a topic about religion in general and stick to one theme/themes.

Even if you could argue that the abortion topic wasn't political (which you couldn't, at least not in the USA), you literally talked about a story DIRECTLY LINKED TO GOVERNMENT!

As I've said... I don't do PMs. People may not like my opinion on a topic but I'm not going to hide it.

GameRager: (They are vague, as I said)
So all of your pushing the boundaries are a commentary on their rules and not outright ignorance?

I can respect that and you're more clever than I gave you credit for.

GameRager: Also are you trying to say everything current events related or talked about by any party/person in office is political/shouldn't be discussed? Because that's cut back on much people talk about here or could tlak about.
Depends on context.

I pretty much gave an example right in this thread why it leads to issues.

You want to talk about an abortion or 'gay rights' issue like dt then some people might disagree with your stance. They might come back with a counter point. Then we've got ourselves a flame war.

avatar
GameRager: My stance is that what GOG says goes, but that the rules seemingly don't mean social politics and to me that means they're ok(unless staff say otherwise or the rules are updated) for now.
And yet you're bringing up direct political issues like abortion, directly tying it to a political party/person and their stance on it.

avatar
GameRager: Again fo what you feel is right....if you make any threads and they are not rule breaking/interesting I might contribute and I will ignore anything I find objectionable.
Yeah... that wouldn't go well. Also ironic to hear you talk about rule breaking.

Gov't might've been mentioned in the article but that's not the thing I was trying to bring up(are we talking about the abortion article or the OP article? If the OP one I admit that was a bad choice in hindsight)/focus on.

As for PMs, as I said I have an offtopic thread we could also move this to to keep this thread free of offtopic while remaining visible to all.

==============================
It's due to me not knowing the full extent of what they meant and taking their allowance of such topics to be them saying it isn't against the rules(social politics/etc, not gov't politics). If they said that wasn't allowed as well i'd stop right now.

Also people wouldn't need to push boundaries(even if unintentional) if the rules were more clear. Can we agree on this much?
=============================
That(context) seems fair. As for others disagreeing they are welcome to(and I welcome them more than those agreeing with me as I dislike echo chambers in general) as long as they stay civil. If they don't and keep doing so after being asked not to I/others can always report them.

Should we not talk about any hot topic because it might lead to flaming?
=============================
I focused on one issue and used the article that brought it to my attention while trying to frame what I took from it and wanted to discuss here. If the article talks about things forbidden on GOG that's not me talkimg about politics just because the article also brings up politics/someone political's stance on something.

Otherwise we could then say we couldn't bring up anyone with strong leanings even if they talked about gaming because they'd be tied to politics(by some people's mindsets).
==========================
Why is it ironic? You may think i;m rule breaking but(again) the rule is vague so you could be wrong on what's against the rules and also staff seems to be fine with it(and they know these threads exist) so that must mean they don't go against the rules.

==========================
BTW Again I urge you to take this to my offtopic thread...it's public/not PM and we can tlak about me/how I post./why I post as much as you want.

Either one is political.

Sure... what we're never going to agree on, apparently, is abortion. It's an inherently and heavily political issue. To deny that is to be ignorant of politics.

If it's a specific topic that leads to arguments every time... like... you know... POLITICS then yeah.

You escalate things. Quickly. It starts out with things that have minor political stances. In a couple it's on to stuff like abortion and then you play games claiming it isn't political.

Evidently everyone hates squirrels. XD

In the forum's defense, squirrels are kind of pests.
They dig holes in the house, destroy insulation, shit all over the place.

MAN! On second though that posts should be low rated!
