Good news!
Hello, as stated even in the part you quoted, Steam Connect is optional - because of that you are absolutely not required to use it. If you, however, wish to, you have to follow these rules - but only then.

That's all I was really looking for - assurance that you only had to follow those rules if you were using that program.
I know others will say that was obvious (as she did as well), but I just wanted to have it officially stated.
Issue addressed, without all of that melodrama from earlier in this topic necessary.
Hopefully, though, there doesn't come a time when the use of this program is forced onto people (e.g. "Buy GameX and get the Steam copy for free!" -> "You can't buy this game if you don't get the Steam copy" or anything like that).
Also, again, I would highly recommend other people reading the terms they are agreeing to before they blindly accept and install stuff.
In my opinion it would be far better if no one made use of this program, leading to the including of Steam DRM rules for GOG games for those people - and possibly further encouragement that people are willing to accept that sort of stuff.
But, that's a decision for the rest of you. And, from this topic, obviously most people don't actually like/care about reading, and do just blindly accept things that are put in front of them. So, c'est la vie.
Carry on.
