I hate to write such posts but I don't have another chance since imo it has to make perfectly clear that this is a matter that is completely unacceptable.

We all know that GOG will have to follow the rules of their publishers so if one says "remove that game from store" they will have to do so. It's a simple legal obligation and we all learned to live with it because it is legal and we cannot change the fact. The users who purchased the game before they removed it however were safe since their own contract has been digitally signed and therefore what's in their library is theirs for all eternity. It is something GOG told us again and again and whenever a game gets removed from the store they are telling us that we will keep our purchased copy in our library. So far so yay...

Years ago it happened that GOG removed bonus materials from the library of users that purchased the game. GOG may not be aware but the moment they list material on the gamepage it becomes part of the users decision to buy said game and therefore becomes part of the bought product itself. So people weren't lucky when GOG suddenly took things from their library ... things they paid money for - at least to be able to use them. We all know how things are working at GOG. GOG makes a stupid decision, gets really bad feedback and apologizes. They did apologize and promised to not remove any material from the users library anymore. Well, unfortunately it seems as if this promise is not worth a lot.

As you can see here. GOG removed once again bonus materials from users library without telling, without warning, without being allowed to do so and without keeping their promise.
It also seems as if this has not been the first time after they promised not to do so as you can see here.

@GOG: Please defend your decisions/actions. In my book what you did is basically the same as breaking and entering into my home, taking something that belonged to me or that I was by contract allowed to use. Please tell me that this and all the other cases were just some technical glitches that will be fixed. I am no lawyer but I am pretty sure nobody can force you to remove things from your customers accounts. They might force you from stopping to sell them but nothing more. One last addition: this is NOT about the bonus material in question (I don't even own the game), this is about the fact that the users library should be safe - removing something from it is worse than any DRM in my opinion!

Marko you know that GOG tends to ignore the forums.

But it could have been a technical glitch, but I raised the issue with support, I suggest you do the same.

When will people here, learn to ask Gog before flapping off at the mouth? It could be a simple glitch and yet all of a sudden its a calamity and deception by Gog, unbelievable.

C'mon Marko - let's not jump to conclusions & just wait for support reply on monday.
At least, concerning the removal of that bonus The Witcher 3 soundtrack track, they notified... Good thing i backed it up, so early as preorder times.

Seriously, though, extras are no longer a priority, or even a matter that matters for GOG, anymore. 5+ years ago, they promised to negotiate with returning the good old, fallout extras and signal was lost.
Marko wie bist du bei der Vielzahl deiner Spiele aufmerksam geworden, dass da GOG gegen deinen Willen irgendetwas entfernt hat?

Auf Englisch bitte.
Now I am not going to defend gog in this matter, they should not be removing content from accounts.

However, this really does emphasise to the highest degree why it is YOUR responsibility to download and store offline everything you buy digitally that is possible. No internet based company that has ever existed or will exist should be trusted, full stop.

Internet club has 2 rules:
Backup all your digital items, then back them up again, and again, and have an offsite back, and any further you can.
Never trust anyone or anything on the internet. Verify, validate, and take ownership.
Due to a DMCA takedown request, we had to immediately remove the German manual from Jagged Alliance 2 goodies, which unfortunately affects all owners of the game. We’re deeply sorry but in this case, we were unable to inform you about it in advance as we try to do in such situations.

Thanks for the info, Komrade.
It's always bad when you must to remove something due to the license issues.

It shouldn't be like that. People who bought the game with all additional content should still have access to it. I understand that there are legal issues, but people actually paid for this. This reminds me of Quake 1 Windows edition soundtrack removal. It wasn't additional content. The soundtrack was cut out of the installer and it affected all of the people who already bought it. A very dangerous precedence, but hopefully it didn't spread and I hope the issue with JA2 German manual won't spread as well.

If you read EULA a little more carefully, you will see that you actually don't own anything on GOG. Just like on Steam (what an irony), you only get a "licence" to use the software product, and since it doesn't belong to you, this product can be modified even after you "purchase" it.

Unfortunately, DRM-Free doesn't mean that something is completely yours. This is the most popular misconception here. DRM-Free usually means that there is no any "third party" in the interaction between you and the game. That's all.

The only way to save something that you "own" on GOG is to constantly create backups.

Welcome to reality. Enjoy your stay.

It's funny to see some people who can't even read the EULA keep downvoting my posts in this topic, as if it will change something.

Hilarious and pathetic behavior at the same time.

At least there is always piracy in the end, Which does support the consumers since it's done by the consumers.

Technically even the boxed versions don't belong to you. You only have the license to use the game. Nothing new here...

I view this as a legal flaw. It doesn't protect the consumer enough. And I'm not talking about GOG terms of use, but about legal rights in overall. I fully understand that GOG has to operate within the established terms...

Exactly! But for some reason, people always forget about it.

I think that this removal of the manual should be considered as a patch. Sometimes patches add new content, but sometimes they modify or even cut out old content (mostly because of some legal issues).
