So I've owned this game since my early days on GOG but I've never played the game except once when I deleted it after appearing in the first village, as I didn't feel like playing it.

Now, Divine Divinity is such a great game and as many people will own it now due to the Christmas promo, I've had a great idea - let's make it into a forum game!

The rules are simple: since it's basically a cross between Arcanum and Diablo, a hack n slash sandbox with various choices (or so I've heard), let's all start playing it now and post here our progress - what is your character's background, your RP, where did you get to and what did you do. Any funny episodes or moments, whatever caught your interest, great loot you found, unexpected encounters (whether friend or foe) and so on!

Feel free to post as much screenshots as you want. I'm downloading the game now and will start with posting my character, if people are in.
Oh man I'm tempted but I don't know if I could handle it again. It's so LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!!!! XD

You don't have to, play it just for a little bit! ;)

That's an interesting idea. I might join this after I unlock it as a freebie.
This will happen soon because I have to buy some games for the Secret Santa event.
Awesome! :)

So I played yesterday for about four hours (or less? probably two to three I guess) and so far the game is great!

I got into the Catacombs, it was so deliciously spooky and I quit the game halfway into level two. I did replay bits of the game, as I wasn't satisfied with my choice with George the merchant and had to start the game anew (but it was probably just few minutes).

I picked the male mage, since the female mage is too much skimpily clad and I want a properly dressed character, also after trying out the female mage her screams are a little bit too much annoying - too high pitched, I'd prefer lower voice shouts of pain, like you have in Morrowind. Hearing "eeek" and "aaah" would get annoying, although I don't get hit much since I tend to just pummel meteorstrike and go and rest whenever I run out of mana. Also unlike the male mage she stand in her combat pose a bit weirdly, like those Japanese female characters, where it looks like their knees are weirdly bent as their feet are facing inwards and not outwards like all the male characters. Eeeeugh! Seriously devs, stop this nonsense!

Anyway, the game is awesome and I'm planning to have a warrior-mage, so I'll take everything down with my spells and then go around a little bit killing things with my weapons until I need to retreat. I look foward to trying out more spells, although it's a pity there aren't that many of them - I feel like that in Diablo you got spells as the sorceress much faster!

I'm loving all the little touches, like many manuscripts to read and actual village with logical construction, bee hives and stuff. Also how the rats don't attack you. One downside is that you really have to go pixel hunting on clickable items like levers and candles, they only work if you click on them while their name is displayed, which is usually only on 1-3 places, and not the whole image. So you really have to hover over the top of the candle, which is annoying as they are so little even in the biggest resolution! But I love how you've got all this discoverable things, hehe! And the occasional puzzles.

Pro tip: there's one bed located in the starting village that has zero weight and can be tossed into your inventory. Pull it out and place it on the ground whenever you need to rest.
Don't forget to kill Ortho's pigs.

He likes that.

Noo! They shall live.
I played a bit today, the perspective feels super weird.
Hm, I haven't touched it since last time but it was quite fun. Would anyone else be interested in trying out this forum game?
Okay at first I thought this was something like Twitch plays Pokemon, which would be really interesting to watch and participate in.
But I don't feel that I have the time to play that game right now, because as TinyE said: "It's so LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!!!! XD".
Funny to see this thread now, because I actually just finished playing Divine Divinity (for the first time) about a week ago. I picked the female survivor because I wanted to try sneaking and stealing stuff, and I like her voice actor. Unfortunately, much like Green_Hilltop mentioned, she's wearing a completely ridiculous corset-thong... thing. I figured it wouldn't be so bad because I'd soon find armor to wear, but it was a surprisingly long time before she looked fully clothed.

In terms of build, I was going for something kind of like a Witcher (can't play the Witcher 3 yet until I upgrade my machine) so I focused on swordfighting and magic. Should have gotten magic sooner though, that first dungeon was SUPER tough until I put a point in Meteorstrike. Some of the extra-tough skeletons could easily klil my character in one hit (although I was playing on the hardest difficulty, so maybe it's my own fault). Also learned alchemy for Witcher-ness, even though it's not really that necessary to the game itself. I did have fun mixing up potions though.

I won't spoil too much about the later game yet, except to say that it gets much more interesting once past the catacombs beneath Aleroth.

Like that joke at the end?
Hmm, I was putting off actually playing it, just using it as an excuse to buy an extra couple bucks of discounted stuff I don't really need. But what the heck, I'll watch this topic and post my first experiance in a couple of hours.
My Thoughts:
Okay character selection: I picked the female mage because Wizards and I don't pick female characters very often. Got through the introduction where some dude is revealed to be possessed by demons or some such nonsense and attempted to make my way over too him. I say attempted because I didn't pay attention to where the map actually was and promptly got lost. I found what I can only assume is the first dungeon and decided to tackle it armed only with a rake and some rubbish shoes. The upside is that wizards tend to oneshot skelletons before they get close. but then I noticed your mana doesn't regenerate. not that it matters at this point because Level ups refill it and I can just kill enough skeletons to make it to level 2 and escape the dungeon with the blue key. That was an entertaining romp and I will return tomorrow to try and advance the plot and approach things the legit way.
