yogsloth: Although as I sit here working on the game - writing up little bits and bobs - I realize it simply might not be possible to run it on MU.
Those of you who have played my games know something about how it goes - but for those of you who haven't played, my games are stories. The extensive flavor text in the game is part of it, but every player receives a piece of the story every night and part of the fun is trying to see how it all fits together. Once the game is over everyone gets to see how it actually all went, with lots of surprises and easter eggs and silliness and such.
It's not like the modbot just spitting out the result of your night action.
I don't know how I would do all that on MU with strictly timed deadlines, as (especially in the early game with many players alive) it takes me several hours to write up the night action PMs, and what you get is frequently not cut-and-dry.
Modbot can reveal as much, or as little, as you want.
For your game, I'd suggest you treat it like a completely custom game - just have the modbot not reveal the flips for the lynch, and have it not run any actual role actions. You can do all of that yourself, however you like - in a notepad, QuickTopic, spreadsheet, however you normally do it. If you need extra time at night, you can manually lock the thread after the bot starts the day. Since you're doing all actions yourself, no one will have died. Then just send whatever PMs need to get sent.
Idk I'm not doing a great job of explaining it. Basically, you run the game however you'd run it here, just the modbot handles votes and starts and ends the days. The flips, and when people are allowed to post, and who dies, are all manually done by you.
On a related note, I think I'm going to have to pass on the game if it's hosted here. I totally get it from a perspective of having played here a while, it's not that bad, you get used to it, etc. And I even get the reluctance to play somewhere else. For those of you who are skeptical, I'd encourage you to give it a chance. No one else can post in that game thread; it'll just be like you're playing here, except the thread redirects you to a slightly different looking game thread that actually has mafia-conductive tools. You don't have to worry about a bunch of new people or learning a new community or whatever.
I really think you guys should give it a chance. It's just an ease-of-use thing. Why make the game harder than it has to be? Take all the headaches out of the way and let the craziness of yog's game and the actual play be the only thing we have to worry about.
fake edit:
That being said I really would like to play; it would be super fun, in particular, to play with Nacho, Tammy (if she decides she's in!), and Stanari again.
