RULES

0. agentcarr16 is the moderator for this game. If you have any questions, contact him via PM or via a bolded question in the game thread.

1. Cryptoclaiming is strictly forbidden. Cryptoclaiming is having everyone fullclaim in some sort of (preferably unbreakable) code, which makes it all but impossible for the mafia to win. Repeat, cryptoclaiming is verboten.

2. Betting among personnel is strictly forbidden.

3. Discussing this game outside this thread or other threads provided directly by the moderator is strictly forbidden.

4. Quoting your PM verbatim is strictly forbidden.

5. Real Life issues and situations ALWAYS take precedence. If a player presents a real life issue as a reason for any of their actions, that reason should be accepted and respected by all players. If issues become overwhelming, please contact the moderator and they will be able to organize a replacement. If anyone is caught taking advantage of this clause, they will be immediately court martialed (allowed to find another place to play forum mafia).

6. Have fun and enjoy the game. While shouting at and accusing your fellow players is expected, please remain civil.

7. Your votes must be bolded. Unbolded votes will not be counted. There is no need to unvote.

8. Please do not use bolded text for emphasis. Instead use italics or underlines.

9. Do not edit your posts for any reason. Remember there is a forum feature that automatically merges posts made within 10 minutes of each other. There is also a forum bug which sometimes prevents your post from appearing when it would appear on a new page. Please wait a minimum of 10 minutes before re-posting to avoid triggering a merge.

10. If you die, stop posting in this thread. A single "bah" post is allowed and encouraged, but it must not contain any game relevant material.

11. You are expected to make a post every 48 hours. If you need to be away for longer, please let the moderator know in advance.

12. Breaking rules, depending on the severity, may get you court martialed (mod-killed, ejected from the game, etc.).

13. Once a majority votes for a player (or role), that player gets lynched (or chosen). No amount of unvoting will change it.

Good evening sirs, I am Lieutenant Carr. We have gathered you this evening as the most capable among us. The situation is this;

Several key acting officers were injured or killed in the attack on Commander Sapphire. We need you to fill their roles. However, we are also convinced that certain of you are malevolent and were involved in the attack.

We need you to determine which of you are antagonistic to the success of this mission. To accomplish this, we will allow you to choose the positions to which certain of you will be promoted. The positions that may be filled are:


TOWN ROLE OPTIONS

1. Cop - Each night phase, you may learn the alignment of a player you select.

2. Tracker - Each night phase, you may select a player. You will learn the name of the player that person targeted with an ability (if any).

3. Watcher - Each night phase, you may select a player. You will learn the name(s) of the player(s) who targeted that person with an ability (if any).

4. Roleblocker - Each night phase, you may disable all active abilities of a player of your choice. (Mafia night kills submitted by a Strongman will still go through.)

5. Doctor - Each night phase, you may choose another player to protect from the Mafia's night kill. They are guaranteed to live through the night unless a Mafia Strongman submitted the kill on them.


Once those promotions have been ascertained, you may proceed with identifying and eliminating the enemy actors using whatever powers have been placed in your hands.

The future of the HMSS Spectator rests with you.

During Day 0, each player has two votes, with which they may vote for the Town role options outlined above. Voting is not mandatory. A player may not vote twice for the same role. When one of the roles attains a majority of the votes or the deadline is reached (whichever comes first), Night 0 will begin and the two roles with the most votes will be randomly assigned to two Town players. If two or more roles are tied, the role with the most recent vote will be chosen.

Godfather aside (which is true for every opposite mafia PR; every point for a Town PR has to be made with a stipulation "X mafia PR aside"), cop gives most reliable results, and HSL and bler did make good points on why Watcher can be better than Tracker in this scenario (unlike cop, for tracker to be effective he has to pick the mafioso who does the killing). Doctor is for protection instead of info (I think info is more valuable) and RB also suffers from the fact that you have to pick the right mafioso (and might interfere with town PRs too).

Which mafia PR messes with the Roleblocker? In some settings, a Strongman breaks through Roleblocker, but my reading of the rules here indicates that RB trumps Strongman, meaning Strongman only cancels one thing and RB reigns supreme.

Per "normal" rules (via mafiascum.net), Roleblocker does not stop Strongman.

Oh! Good to know; I'd been kind of wondering why scum might choose Strongman if it only beat the Doctor.
