Ok, you guys were busy after I signed off yesterday (game day that is).

Good job trent, nice choice of reads. Turns out I was right about mchack then, I should really trust my gut more often.

I didn't see what about mchack and yogs made yogs more townie but obviously his claim was true after all (particularly in light of trent also being blocked) and his NK isn't really that surprising seeing as he had claimed a power role and trent was likely to be protected. I actually thought yogs' might have been doing something else, but turns out he wasn't and it's now irrelevant.

Shame we didn't get another cop read, but 1 dead scum makes up for the poor showing D1.

Looking at the wagon I suppose I do see one tell that made yogs a bit more townie, unfortunately it doesn't apply to anyone else, in that he seems to be the only one to see trent's claim and mchack's admission and not immediately vote mchack.
Which if I were scum and mchack's buddy I would want to do to try and get some distancing going on and not to be seen to be in anyway attempting to stall the inevitable wagon (also shutting him up quickly in case he says something incriminating).
Of the six on mchack I would expect at least one to be scum, unless all the remaining scum are amongst the pool of players inactive at the time of trent's claim (me, Lift and Sage/Hunter would appear to be that pool). Now I know I'm town and it's possible Lift and Hunter are scum, but really Sage didn't appear to be scum lurking as much as having a variety of RL reasons she couldn't post, so NAI altogether.

Comparing the two wagons I don't really see scene as scum, if he is he's doing a damn fine job of it IMO, it would take a huge leap of logic to see trent as anything but town, mchack was scum which leaves Vitek, flub and SPF.

flub wasn't on ZFR's wagon D1 but the other two were.
I get a reasonably townie feeling from Vitek, I could possibly see flub as scum but don't see any particular evidence to suggest it which leaves SPF looking the most suspicious by process of elimination.

His odd campaign / reasoning against Vitek yesterday certainly stands out. Also if SPF is Pikachu or another electric pokemon he could possibly be the scum roleblocker (paralyse is a common electric move and side effect).

So yeah, I would be happy with voting SPF, and could be persuaded to vote Hunter or flub and maybe Lift (I'd have to look back at his interactions with ZFR D1 to remind myself whether I ended up thinking town or scum on him)

Lifthrasil: But after revealing mchack as scum without any pressure on trent or mchack (i.e. no reason to bus), that speculation would be quite far-fetched. Of course in Mafia nothing is ever 100% sure, but for me trent is now as confirmed as town as it gets.
Yes, it did rather cross my mind that it could have been the ballsiest mafia play ever, but I agree it seems highly unlikely. If you are mafia trent, let me congratulate you and mchack for your inevitable win at this point. :P

Hunter65536: Hey everyone, glad to be playing again. :)

Nearly caught up, will get up early tomorrow and start posting if it's alright.
Yo!

avatar
Vitek: It is interesting that mafia had watcher.
Hmm? Please elaborate.

avatar
Vitek: Thanks for telling us of your intended towny action you totally planned (upon the second most town player at that moment) to do but unfortunately was prevented from by dastardly mafia and their sinister murder.

Vine Whip SPF

Not only for this, also for the previous play.
Oh please, you're telling me off for posting my thoughts now? It wasn't just the non-participation in mchack's wagon, it was also the strange midnight vote.

So basically your reasons for voting are:
1. for posting my thoughts and
2. for already being suspicious of you

Yeah...

trentonlf: Later tonight, about 7-8 hours, I will try to post my list and why they were my choices as I don’t see me living through the next night phase.
Well there always the chance you might be protected. Then again, it might be too late by then.

Vitek: It is interesting that mafia had watcher.

SirPrimalform: Hmm? Please elaborate.
Never mind. Long day at work made me forget mchack's flip.

But hey, look at your LAMIST surprise at "discovering" the mafia had a watcher!

See, any perfectly reasonable post can be framed as LAMIST. Sometimes a post is just a cigar or something.

That depends on whether we have a protective role. Scum is in the nice bind that they risk wasting an NK when they target you. Because if we do have a protective role you should be the obvious protectee ... protegé? What's the right word? But you are right, we shouldn't bet on the existence of a protective role.

SirPrimalform: Oh please, you're telling me off for posting my thoughts now? It wasn't just the non-participation in mchack's wagon, it was also the strange midnight vote.
Why? Sure that vote was strange and I, as a mod, would probably have modkilled yogs for that, especially with the two 'don't post!' warnings before that. But doing something stupid and risking a modkill is NAI. So why did that blunder make you want to push yogs?

Also, I have the impression that you are tunneling quite hard on Vitek. The question is why? Are you town, who just happens to be tunneling? (happens to me all the time) Or are you scum who thinks that Vitek can be pushed to mislynch? Or are you and Vitek scum and this is a distancing game? Or do you have found something against him that's more solid than pure flavour?

Don't get me wrong, I don't see Vitek as towny. More as neutral. But you lurked first and then, when pushed to participate more, you selected one target and startet tunneling. That looks quite scummy.

I can kind of see this, as if he hadn't been the NK I would definitely have been on him too.
I'll let SPF explain himself though without giving him an excuse to use before I give my reasoning.
Well it doesn't look like this day is moving any faster than the last one (you're all just waiting for me to be too busy to follow and post aren't you!), I'm assuming we don't have another cop with a lucky scum read to save the day this time so let's get things moving.

There seems to be a reasonable consensus that

Tackle SirPrimalForm

is the way to go next.

Let's not hurry. Are you trying to rush the lynch? Hunter didn't even get chance to post.

avatar
SirPrimalform: *I like cheese*
Since Day 2, with the exception of little side comment toward yog for his "I was right about mchack" post, you are only focused on me for the avatar thinigie (me very unsubtly preparing to false-claim Pikachu to gain some sort of advantage from it).

Could you provide your reads or at least other scum suspects with some reasoning? Because I have no idea what you think about anything else that's going on in the game other than my supposed false-claim.

Vitek: Let's not hurry. Are you trying to rush the lynch? Hunter didn't even get chance to post.
Just trying to get things moving a bit.

You're trying too hard to "get things moving."

You need more fiber.

It struck me as an "Oh shit, I'd better get on the wagon!" panic vote that was so panicky that he did it without catching up on the thread. As I said, I would certainly have had some questions for him if he hadn't turned up dead.

You think I came up with the vote breadcrumb thing only when pushed? I'd been watching him like a hawk since the middle of day one - I just didn't go public until I was pushed.
I definitely am tunnelling, it's just a question of whether it's justified or not. If I was mafia pushing for a mislynch, don't you think I'd pick an easier target? I don't think Vitek has ever been a viable wagon so far.
No, I just really think he's scum this time.

It was never really the avatar I was concentrating on, it was the vote breadcrumbs. The avatar seemed to support it, but it was never the core of my reasoning.

I admit, I have been heavily distracted by you since part way through day 1 and am thus a bit light on scum reads (ZFR and yogs are dead and - rather crucially - town). I only just got back in and really need to go to bed, so this is it for tonight. Expect more from me tomorrow evening at the latest, earlier if I have any downtime at work.
avatar
Lifthrasil: Also: welcome Hunter! Thanks for stepping in. Are you scum? Or how do you explain that you were completely absent for the first two Days? ;-)
Nah, I was mostly sleeping :p

This is going to sound weird and I think it might be not very probable but is it possible that trent is a traitor? That way he might know one of the scum members. (read the mafia wiki description, don't know myself)

Just seems a little off to me that there is a role blocker kind of role on both town and scum teams. (more experienced players can correct me if I am wrong here)

The way I see it someone with Traitor role doing that would gain doctor's protection (unconfirmed role and begs the question why scum didn't directly go for trent, but maybe they believed yogs was the doctor ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) and good amount of town cred as well.

Now that my crackpot theory is out of the way I will put up reads I have got till now, in the next post.
Ok so last night I tried to meditate on lift. I was getting a gut feeling he might be scum. Just like Mchack he has been appearing as helpful as he can, but he has not really put himself in a situation that can come back on him as looking bad. I got the trying to appear townie vibe.

Sirprimalform, he has not been overly involved in the game except to show up and comment and seem involved. His fascination with Vitek's avatar and attacks seemed like a giant stretch to try and find something scummy out of nothing.

adaliabooks, Hard to say what exactly it is with adalia but at times I get a feeling he's scum trying to appear as townie as possible

Supplementscene, I know he keeps getting a pass because he's new and doesn't understand exactly how the game works, but he's had plenty of time to look at how forum mafia works yet he keeps posting like he has no clue half the time. I can't help but suspect it might be all an act.

My order of preference for lynch:

Lift
SPF
Supplementscene
adalia
Too many people I can't seem to place as of now, but I will work on sorting them into list above or below that.

Maybe scum
Lifthrasil
- Found this point by Lift in post 77 interesting "It's a careful act, throwing suspicion on townies to make town mis-lynch while at the same time also appearing suspicious of your actual scum-partners"
- It felt like that was what lift and mchack were doing in day 1 in posts 75 ("Well technically I'm on lift. but you know, not for this reason but to free sage"), post 215 ("Didn't I read somewhere, that whoever suggested "Jester" first should be policy lynched?"), post 247 ("Lift is making redundant posts sometimes and going after scene now seems scummy to me.")
- Mchack didn't vote lift after post 109 (where he voted yogs), unless my vote tracking had gone wrong somewhere.
- His interactions with ZFR felt like M-T fighting than T-T fighting

Ain't got a clue
Vitek
Flubbucket
Supplementscene
SPF

Maybe town
Adalia
- Was a bit eager on SPF lynch but that doesn't discount the fact that he has been actively scum hunting

Trent
- Barring a very unlikely scenario he does seem to be town so I am placing him here for now

Guess I'll torment lift

Yog claimed to be roleblocked before. We know yog is town. There is no reason to not trust yog ergo mafia has roleblocker. Unless yog made it up or blocked himself. :-)

I once played game where I lynched player on basis there can't be 3 roleblockers. Well, there were...

Why did you try to sow some doubts with your theory if he is your most towny read?

I don't think it's likely.

However, the world of pokemon could have something of a traitor character in it. I know hardly anything about it except the name Team Rocket, which I think were the bad guys. Since our characters thus far have all been pokemon I would think it unlikely we have a traitor.

Lynches I could support:

SPF
Vitek
Lift
