Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Venom: Changelog for version 1.0.5 is available in the second top sticky post in this thread. Future releases will be added to this post.
avatar
RottenRotz: Will there be some cosmetic changes in the future?Like adding an option to view GOG Galaxy (and library) with original box art,like it used to be?There are many people who would like that option implemented (see My New Account thread)
GOG previously did state that the old library shelf view and artwork will not be coming back and that they wont be maintaining multiple different versions of the website back end code because it is inefficient to divide their resources for such.

Even though I prefer the DVD style box art myself, I have to say from a practical standpoint that I agree with them and that making changes to things will always have people that like it and others that dislike it and that making both things available for every change you do becomes an unsustainable maze of duplication at a certain point. Same thing as the website/company logo and various other changes that are aesthetic for the most part.

In short, I'm fond of the adage "never say never", but at the same time I wouldn't hold my breath on this one.
avatar
skeletonbow: The option shows up prematurely however there is no overlay yet, it is coming in the future. GOG devs have mentioned this previously in the thread although I don't have a reference handy.

GOG: Please make the hotkey for the overlay (and for any other hotkeys) configurable so they don't interfere with hard coded keys that some games may use.

As an example of the problem I am playing Kane and Lynch on Steam right now and the game uses Shift+TAB internally for game control, while so does Steam for bringing up the Overlay. I had to go into the game's launch options and disable the overlay - which means I can't use the overlay and I want to. I don't know if it's configurable globally or not what key it uses, but I don't want to change the overlay hotkey globally either just because it conflicts with one game. Right now as far as I can tell I don't have any other option but to disable the overlay for this game.

So an option to not only reconfigure hotkeys that Galaxy uses inside or outside of the overlay would be appreciated, but to please have both global and per-game settings so people don't have to try to find one single global configuration that works with 600 games simultaneously. :) DOS games in particular are more likely to conflict with OS level or launcher level stolen hotkeys.
avatar
Pheace: This post didn't make any sense till you wrote the last paragraph xD

Basically until then you were asking for configurable hotkeys for the overlay for GOG, because on Steam you had conflicts with that before and you thought you had to disable the overlay there (you don't, the hotkeys are configurable on Steam), but even if it had been configurable, you wouldn't have used that feature anyway just for one game... whoa?! :)

Per game hotkeys for overlay is, interesting, though would probably get too confusing for many people to bother with it. I would imagine this to be an after release addition perhaps, not something to focus on for now.
Think of it as a problem in which when two programs are both competing for the right to interpret keystrokes on the keyboard, only one of them will win and get them first. In any piece of software on the computer where this happens, having configuratble hotkeys for functions which override keys is crucial for software compatibility. As an example, gnome-terminal in Linux uses the F10 key for something (I forget what but it doesn't matter), and Midnight Commander file manager and various other applications may also use the F10 key. This creates a conflict in which you can not exit Midnight Commander using the standard key to exit the program. Other conflicts exist also. You can disable the F10 key in gnome-terminal however that disables it outright. Not very flexible if you want F10 to be used normally but just not when you're running Midnight Commander.

I want similar options in all applications which trap the keyboard for any purpose and use hotkeys which might interfere with another application that is active such as a video game. I used the example of Steam for illustration of the problem, as well as my own personal flexible solution to the issue. I realize that the problem is not something that will occur with every game, but rather one that will occur with a small percentage of games, but in particular older games for the most part. Nonetheless having a solution that solves this issue on a game by game basis would be greatly appreciated.

Those users who are unaware of the problems and/or the solutions simply don't need to know they exist or can safely ignore the configuration options much like people ignore configuration options in any application which they do not need or do not know what they do or why they'd want to use it. People like me can then use it because I do know what it is and what it does and it will improve my experience and anyone else's experience who wants a proper solution that does not interfere with anyone else's personal use and enjoyment of the software.

Steam has a partial solution in place in that it lets you redefine the hotkey it uses for the overlay, but it does not allow you to do this per-game which is unfortunate because Steam is not the only piece of software which uses hotkeys simultaneous to a video game running that might use the same keys. I have NaturalPoint TrackIR's software, Mumble and Ventrilo voice applications as well as others that have hotkeys for activating their functionality while you play. In general it is favourable to decide upon a single hotkey for such things (including the overlay) which does not interfere with any games or other software, but since software can interpret the keyboard itself however it wants, there are no guarantees there wont be conflicts with hotkey assignments.

Having to redefine the hotkey for something and simultaneously have it not interfere with the hotkeys of any of these or other programs at the same time is potentially challenging enough, but having to make sure that the hotkeys chosen for one piece of software don't conflict with any of 600 other pieces of software is practically futile. I hate having to go reconfigure a key for one game, play it for an hour then reconfigure it back for other software, it's less than optimal to say the lease.

So my request to take this preference into consideration was aimed at GOG.com software developers rather than being an inquiry to the general public to debate the usefulness of the feature or offer workaround suggestions as I'm well aware of what the insufficient alternatives are that I'm limited to choosing between at the moment. I may have miscommunicated this intention, but hope this clarifies things.
Love how you thought it was necessary to explain what a key conflict is. No wonder you always write such long posts.

Basically it's a feature that could be useful, and you want it, so you asked GOG and don't care what I think.

That's fine, I'm not telling you to care about it, but you're posting in public anyway and I A) let you know keybinding on Steam *is* configurable, as well as took a little time to imagine how likely it is it'll get implemented, imo. If you don't care about that last part that's ok, easy to ignore.

I'd rather see the core of the problem fixed, which is not whether or not the overlay keys are configurable but that games always should have proper keybinding. Naturally there's a legacy problem there where tons of old games won't be doing that anymore but going forward, as long as games keep having proper keybinding the percentage of games where it *is* a problem should diminish on it's own which also diminishes the problem itself.

Granted, that's not where we are, and I do see a use for the feature, I just don't expect it'll be a big focus for GOG right now, nor should be probably. (note, nowhere am I saying they shouldn't do it at all)

I cannot import the remaining games into GOG galaxy because clicking the image of games that the client thinks aren't installed does nothing. The games that it found work fine, I can go to their respective pages by clicking its thumbnail, but I'm out of luck with the others. I've had this problem Since gog galaxy was released and I've reinstalled several times.

Can you please explain how exactly do you import games into GOG Galaxy? Also please note section "IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY" in the sticky post on top since many games installed using older standalone installers cannot be detected automatically.

When GoG was first released I was able to scan folders and go to the thumbnail, click more, and then search for the game's location. Something happened and I'm no longer able to use the second feature, so now all I can do is press the "+" button and scan for folders. Clicking the thumbnail of games it can't see as installed does nothing.

Logic / flow for game importing haven't changed since Galaxy was released. You can still click "+" button to scan inside a folder and import every game found inside (but it works only for installations from newer game installers) as well as you can still import games manually, by going into the "Library" section, selecting a game you want to import and then clicking More -> Manage -> Import folder to specify the folder where given game is installed (works for any game you can install using Galaxy - which is over 99% of them).

Wait - do I get it right from this gif that left clicking on the image for not installed games does not open page for that game? What about clicking on the other part of the row (or using the grid view)? I'm checking this on Mac right now at it works fine...

You're correct. And clicking on any part of a not installed game has no effect, even in grid view. It seems I have a one of a kind bug because I can't find anyone else with this problem.

This definitely should not be happening. I've passed your report to the Galaxy Client folks. In the meantime, what version of the Client are you currently on (is it 1.0.5?) and what is your operating system (including version)?

using Gog Galaxy version 1.0.5.11
Running Windows 7 64 bit
using an AMD 280x graphics card. I could give you more information if needed.
I'm having an issue with Galaxy loading at all, it starts up and then suddenly fails. It was working fine a few days ago, now it's suddenly not with no real explanation. I uninstalled it, and then reinstalled the latest version but I'm still having the same issue. Quite confused as to what is going on with it.
