tfishell: rip GOG naturally https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upkYQqbrjSc
Rip in peace and in pepperoni.
p.s. this song goes oddly well with my current might and magic play session. Kudos for linking it.

Hooyaah: I admit to clicking on the bait and purchased XCOM 2 on sale for just a few bucks.
So you're saying I should buy Xcom2? ;)

BreOl72: After I received my first "bell ad" (for a game on my WL), I emptied my WL completely
avatar
Timboli: Four games for me now, advertised via the bell, and none of them are on my wishlist yet, so just new releases methinks.
Might very well be the case.

So far I only received "bell ads" for two games.
One new release(!) from my (then still existing) wishlist, the other a new release(!), who was not on my wishlist.

Well, my WL is now emptied anyway (and will stay that way), and my years long subscription to "Promotions and hot deals" has also been scrubbed (and that will also stay that way).

So, IF the "bell ads" are triggered by any of the two - I should be rid of them now.
I've gotten ads for 4 different games, only one on my wish list. How do I clear these out? Clicking on them does nothing.

NO!
Maybe I have a super-thick skin, but for some reason it doesn't bug me it right now reminds "under the bell" that two games on my wishlist are on sale. It is not like it is some annoying pop-up that keeps appearing in front of me and not going away.

You don't have a "Clear all" button beside them? I do.

I do, but I have other notifications I'm keeping (friend requests, etc). All other notifications clear when you click on them.

Your friend requests are still accessible under [Account] ---> [Friends], after they have been cleared.
Received messages should still be accessible under [Chat].

This might be true but the notifivations are gone from under the bell and knowing that there are still some issues to attend to is one reason why these notifications do exist. GOG should NOT abuse these notifications to add some commercial popups. At the very least they should give us an option to deactivate these.

These notifications are particularly annoying, in that, if there are multiple backgrounded GOG tabs, 'clearing' only affects the currently-active tab (this behavior is dissimilar to that of the removal of private message notifications, which instantly disappear from inactive tabs). This discrepancy is a bit odd (but, I doubt that it is deliberate).

I will be looking forward to any future (positive) adjustments made by the trusty jpolgesek. : )

Yeah, I agree that it's annoying. At first, I thought there's someone contacting me or some games on my wishlist are on sale. It turns out that it's just a notification about sales that I'd rather browse them myself.
Just got another one for Frostpunk 2. I have zero interest in this game.

GOG, will you please fuck off with this spam?

Edit: Dispite using the clear all button, I have had the Frostpunk spam show up three times now.

I thought, I just chime in to let everybody interested know, that I haven't received any "bell ads" since August 8th.

Assuming, that this will stay now, the way it is - what did I do to achive it?

Two things:
- completely cleared my personal wishlist
- unsubscribed from all notifications

Maybe the latter would suffice already, but I won't take any chances, anymore.

BreOl72: Two things:

As another data point, I am unsubscribed from all notifications, and have a filled wishlist, and have never received any of these ads.
I got another. With verbal soup for phrasing that didn't even say what game it was supposedly for/etc. I immediately clicked "clear".

GOG is training me to ignore the notifications system.
