Psyringe: The Good Old Ghouls lost 0-2 against the Gentlemanly Vamps, in a match where ... well ... I think nothing really worked for me. Out of 46 skill rolls, 22 resulted in a 1 or 2 (whereas I only rolled a grand total of four 6's). Out of 73 block dice, 20(!) were skulls, and 15 were pow/skulls (mostly rolled by my mummies, who don't have Block). Out of 40 blocks, 4 resulted in double red skulls, 3 in single red skulls, and 6 in skulls&pow-skulls on players without Block. I didn't even manage to bring the ball into my opponent's half, not even once, except with the kick-offs.
My mummies both stayed on the pitch for the entire match for a change, but their blocks caused so many turnovers (after eating most of my re-rolls) that I wish they hadn't.
The one thing that did work, were the armor/injury rolls towards the end of the match. Each mummy killed one opponent, and there were some more casualties and knock-outs. However, this came too late to make a difference, and the vamps hit equally hard, so I didn't really get a numerical advantage.
In short, the match went so bad for me that Cheong at some point suggested a restart, stating that he didn't enjoy winning this way. But, well, that's just how the game works. Sometimes it just keeps punching you in the face and there's nothing you can do - but each match starts fresh, and there will always be amazing moves and results if you just keep trying. ;)
Replay is here. My last match felt that way as well, though probably not as bad. I turned the ball over on failed blocks 5 times, considering I had 10 out of 11 players with block (the one without was only responsible for 1) that equals a lot of red skulls.
