fr33kSh0w2012: No Tim Sweeny will just embezzle it all on crypto-currency, because Tim Sweeny is a criminal.
Flashfire42: Crypto Currency isnt exclusively for criminals. Well he swindled 1 year exclusives, To force people to use his shitty storefront.
let's see
Metro Exodus
The Outer Worlds
Borderlands 3 but only for 6 months (quite frankly borderlands can stay there)

Flashfire42: Crypto Currency isnt exclusively for criminals. not to devalue your point - just making a factual statement often overlooked by people discussing crypto currencies.
Edit: which is related to what somebody mentioned earlier about the hacking and selling of accounts.

GOG accounts are not likley being hijacked
Right now
The thing is there's literally no value in hijacking a GOG account now. GOG doesnt have anything people by and large want or demands. Thus spending the energy to try to hijack accounts isnt really that useful. Because you can't convert it to actual usable money
Right now
But just wait till Cyberpunk 2077 gets a firm release date and pre-orders open.
THEN you're gonna see a giant uptick in hijacks. Hijackers are gonna be keen on hijacking accounts, and using any GOG wallet or stored payment methods to gift copies of the game to victims. Cyberpunk 2077 IS valuable enough for a hijacker to want your GOG account.
Right now? Your account is worthless and isn't worth a hijackers time.
In the future? It will be valuable and a juicy target for hijackers
Enable 2 factor on GOG NOW.

I don't really see why that should be. Cyberpunk will be DRM-free and anyone wanting it but not wanting to pay will be able to download it from the usual suspects day 1 (cheapskates and freeloaders...). Of course it would be cool if the pirates, who always claim "honour" and "against DRM" would as one refuse to upload Cyberpunk, torrent platforms would remove any torrent containing it... but even I am not that optimistic...

Evan_Damien: I am exhibit A. I lost my account, and the email address affiliated with it in just under an hour to an unknown assailant. I am not the only one, many have suffered the effects of the criminals behind the acts.
Ah-HA! There's the culprit. Naturally if you lose control of your email account, then everything is lost. Then the assailant can and will and did have a way to circumvent even two-factor authentication. Plus, they can read all your old emails, and send trashy emails to your MOTHER, impersonating as you. This could jeopardize your future heritage as well, as she might disown you as her son!
Securing your email account in such cases is very important. DON'T use the same password on your email account (as on other services, like GOG.com or Steam), and if possible, enable two-factor authentication also on your email account.
EDIT: So just to clear any misconceptions: most likely you first lost your email account to the hacker, and after that he/she/it was able to circumvent two-factor authentication on your GOG account (and possibly some other services). I presume of course that you had not switched off two-factor authentication at any point, right? RIGHT? RIIIIIIIIIGHT?!?!?!
