ET3D: IIRC it's even DRM-free on Steam, so once you get that version you don't have to worry about services closing.
You do have to know about the -nosteam command line parameter (I think that's what you put) otherwise it will be expecting Steam. I've backed up the files and run it this way a couple of times in new environments so it does indeed work. Doesn't work for Arkham City unfortunately, just AA.
BlackDawn: GFWL is still in working condition. Your problem is probably because of Windows version, 8 and above have issues with the GFWL client.
Themken: So, how would I go about playing Fallout 3 (GFWL version) if I would want to finish the DLCs some day AFTER upgrading to Windows 10? (Will do that soon)
I have at least two GFWL games on my laptop that started as a windows 8.0 laptop and is now a Windows 10 laptop. They are still working fine as near as I can tell. I do think there were issues that may have required some update way back when, but GFWL does work. You might look the game up to see if there are any specific issues for it, but it's been good for me so far. My experience isn't necessarily going to be your experience, but I wouldn't be overly concerned about your options. You, for sure, aren't the only one that will have tried to get F3 going on Windows 10.
