Hi all,

I tried, unsuccessfully, to play my Batman Arkham Asylum game today, apparently because Games for Windows Live has closed. Is there any way in which I'll still be able to play it and Arkham City in future?

Regards.

I think you have to redeem the keys for those games on Steam now.

I wish UWP would suffer the same fate asap.
IIRC it's even DRM-free on Steam, so once you get that version you don't have to worry about services closing.
And congratulation, even if you get it running on Steam, you just lost all your saves. Unless you want to hex-edit them, (which I tried to do unsuccesfully last year, scrambling them beyond recognition, so it's NOT easy, even with a step-by-step tutorial)
Happened to me for this very game last year. I had the game on steam, but apparently the saves were tied to the GFWL account. Just as I was finishing the game, too.
I'm not usually a DRM-free fanatic (dual Steam-UPlay-GOG user), but this is the kind of shit that might eventually turn me into one

Games for Windows - LIVE
I have just tried running my GFWL version of Arkham Asylum and had no problems.

There is a offline account option when game is started in offline mode.
Or you may use a No CD Crack that should work as well (Worked fine with my version of Arkham Asylum).

A search for Arkham Asylum GFWL saves found links to several converters. So looks like hex editing isn't necessary.
For saves:

Might work.

For the retail key. Seems that WB will activate the retail keys from certain regions (the ones where they published the game directly), while Europe and Australia (those two i know about) might require to contact WarnerBros support (contact email on the page 5 of the above link). They might ask for a photo of the box and some purchase data. After that, they will replace the GFWL key with a Steam one (doesn't matter that you have a standard edition, WB will upgrade your game to GOTY edition, as they don't sell the standard one anymore).

Hope it helps and good luck.

Quoting:

"As others said contact 'WBGames.Intsupport@warnerbros.com'. You can find the adress on steam - search for supportadresses for batman arkham assylum.
Explain your problem. In a few days they will you contact you and ask for a picture of your gamebox, booklet with activation key and a proof of purchase. I you can submit the information so that they can verify that you are the owner than they will send you a new key. They will explain what they need in the e-mail."

Alternatley you can use this:

Thanks for the replies so far. It seems as if I'll have to wait until it's available here on gog because there is no ways I am moving it into a Steam account. Unless someone can tell me where I can find a safe fan-made no CD patch to download to remove the GFWL check in my game, or however those things work.

PS: Steam isn't so bad. Gaben cares. Why do you shut Gaben out?
Does anyone know if Bulletstorm ever got fixed? Last time I tried running it from steam it kept trying to connect to GFWL and giving an error.
