hedwards: No more than when we have games that don't depict the allies committing crimes against humanity. We get a bit of a pass because we weren't shoving millions of people into ovens and gas chambers, but that doesn't mean that it was OK to intentionally kill all those civilians in places like Dresden and Tokyo, not to mention the questionable dropping of that second nuclear bomb.

I don't recall hearing people clamoring for games that more accurately depicted the evils on that side of the conflict.

EDIT: Or to make it more specific playing WWII Russians and not raping and murdering innocent civilians. The governments and militaries of WWII have a ton of blood on their hands as well as war crimes that were never properly handled.
Lies. Good guys can't have committed crimes. It's in the name "good guys".

LootHunter: What about "Nazi did nothing wrong"? If you depict german side fighting withoug commiting warcrimes, that's essentially what you communicating.

Yes, I know that it's not what glorify "should realistically mean". But you know how these things are today with "racism" and such. People can find offense anywhere and without any reason. Hearts of Iron IV can easily be accused of Holocaust denial *because* it doesn't mention Holocaust, like at all, despite depicting politics of Germany and other nations in great detail.

Well, I do. In fact those people are calling all ommissions you've mentioned exactly "glorification" of war and allies participation in it. But, of course, as paladin181 said, since US and Europe are "good guys" media still trying to glorify your actions, despite clamoring of some people.

Russians, on the other hand, are different matter. We can be easily depicted much worse, than really were. *cough* Company of Heroes 2 *cough*

Anime-BlackWolf: Yeah, after more than 30 years germany joins the other countries and allows 3.Reich symbols in videogames.

https://www.gamepro.de/artikel/usk-generelles-verbot-von-hakenkreuzen-entfaellt-altersfreigabe-im-einzelfaellen,3333257.html

In detail games WITH uncensored symbols are allowed, if they do NOT glorify the 3.Reich. And how many games would fall under those exception? Not many, all normal titles should fall under the new "uncensored" guidelines.

Yeah, Bethesda-Games uncut, South Park uncut, COD: WII uncut, all are a possibilty now. But what will the publishers do? Remake//patch them and give them to the USK uncut, to receive an uncut classification? Sell them again?

And what about OLD titles? Like "Commandos", "Wolfenstein 3D", "Return to Castle Wolfenstein"? The new USK guidelines are good for new titles, but what about the oldies? :(

I hope the publishers remember their old titles and do something with the new guidelines...
Well aren't you lucky we still have an INSANE censorship board over here
I just read it in the Italian news. I'm happy for the German gamers who can now have less problems in getting specific titles.
