Delixe: 1. Create offline profile on GFWL.
2. Play game offline

Druidshinobi: Problem is i don't want to install the GFWL client on my computer so even if i can make an offline profile, i still have to install GFWL.
That obviously your personal problem, only. You should decide what you want more: the game or ranting about DRM. Everybody knows that story and it´s get boring.

dyscode: I´ll explain it to you: the game wasn´t half as bad as the reviews, that seem to copy from each other to a degree that is utterly ridiculous.
I am NOT talking about the circumstance that most reviews might have a similar opinion. It´s like most they saw DNF and didn´t had any clue what to think about it. Then in fear of looking immature by admitting they like it, they read what the next best reviewer wrote about it. There are certain notions for this. But actually the happing lived up to the notion and not vice versa - that you have happening and put a tag to it.
That´s at least how it appeared to me.

posting at 3am in morning is maybe not so good an idea.

GameRager: Or they saw DNF and reviewed it based on their subjective bias against console-like games, or reviewed it as bad to look edgy or cool.
or something like that. Whatever "way out" thoughts you might have - there is still someone or something more "way out" than you dare to imagine XD.

Buy the game so you have a legal copy purchased, then torrent the game. Non totally legal, I know, but if you own the game it's more morally ok.
Just switch to console gaming when you can. No more online activations or GFWL.
Well i can't torrent it, i never download torrents since i don't want viruses or police at my door :P

Look okay, the reason why i don't want GFWL on my computer is because i've heard nothing but bad things about it. Not to mention when i did install it, i had constant updates and it wouldn't let me save offline.

So if i create a offline profile, i can save anytime offline right and won't have to update my GFWL?... I have dirt 2 and haven't played it because of GFWL but if it really isn't too bad i might try it as long as once i have an offline profile i don't have to go back online every week or something to check i still own the game -_-.

You can still be prosecuted for piracy, whether you own a copy of the game or not. That is why I never recommend it (moral or not). When you purchase a game, you are only purchasing the rights to use that game through that particular distribution method. That is why it is illegal to make back-up (even if they don't aggressively prosecute.)

An example, I own NWN: Diamond, picked it up a few years back at GameStop, so I should be able to go to the local torrent/warez site and grab the GOG version?

Didn't think so...

Those are two different versions so your analogy doesn't hold....that'd be like owning a PC version and downloading a console version and vice versa, or downloading expacs you never paid for. What I suggested would be more akin to downloading the same game versions(with or without expacs to match the one you originally paid for, and also the correct/same platform version)...which is technically different than what you used as an example.

Also a backup is totally legal according to federal law/eula, it's making one that's not allowed......thus the catch 22. In order to get the legal backup you're entitled to under EULA you have to break the eula by copying the game. And btw in most cases making backups when prosecuted was thrown out of court if that was the ONLY way a user broke the eula when brought to court. The times many were prosecuted/fined/jailed was when they also uploaded the games to others on torrents(this can be blocked so you don't do it while downloading) or when people also sold game copies digitally or via disc.

You can also just download a crack and not torrent the game, to strip the gfwl out. But if you also want yes you can run GFWL after it's fully updated in offline mode with saves to the local PC you're playing it on, and it's not too intrusive. When you play a dock will appear at the top of the screen to allow you to use it's features as you play.

I am not really sure how my analogy doesn't hold up? My NWN: Diamond has the exact same expansions as GOG's version. But either way, I understand the legality behind the copyright laws, I just don't want to mess with them and find myself in hot water, and I don't recommend others doing the same.

Gog's version is different tehcnically as it is modified to run on newer OSs while the older original version might not be, making it a different version. Also gog's is drm-free and in one installer, again making it a different version.

Also i'm not recommending people do these things, just pointing out options is all. And btw as I said cracking the drm out of games you legally bought and making backups of the same versions via torrents of games you own on disc/etc is against eula but backup isn't and even if people were prosecuted for this in most cases(95%+) it'd be thrown out of court......just want people to have the correct info is all, same as you I guess.

In most cases where people were fined as I said they were also sharing the downloaded files by uploading or selling the games.

(Funny thing about the eula......in order to backup a game you have to either strip out the drm(via cracks/etc) or torrent the game. Backing the game up is legal, while the acts needed to make backups aren't. This catch22 is usually why most judges will dismiss such cases. )

Can we take the DRM discussion to other thread, please?

Good. Now, 24 hours left to buy these two $5 indie packs:

Plus, "the story based science fiction games bundle", $40 for all 4 or you can choose the games in the cart:
