bansama: It's been free for some time, but you won't get the full starter pack. If you buy the game, you're essentially still getting the game for free, but are instead purchasing the extra starter packs you wouldn't get otherwise (without going through additional microtransactions at least).

Delixe: It's news to me. Had a go at the demo and it's not actually that bad to be honest.

I hear it will be the first game to have DX11. If that means anything.

Bear in mind that that's only the base game. You won't get any of the expansion packs with that (and they are sorely needed to improve the game). If anyone is thinking of getting Sword of the Stars, I'd advise to wait; the full complete pack is bound to be on sale again within a month (if not sooner knowing GamersGate).

There's usually a standard international rate for anything outside of neighbouring countries, so I don't know what happened there.

It's just that most other companies offer free shipping, especially if it's as trivial as a disc.

I don't know about 'most other companies' offering free international shipping. But usually international shipping has a flat rate.
