bansama: Dark Sector.

OT. Rather good game I thought.

Crassmaster: The problem is their announcing 'come get a free game!' to the Internet when clearly not having the infrastructure in place to deal with the type of crush they should have realized would come with such an announcement. I mean, is this the sort of issue that's going to come up every time they offer such a sale?
That being said, they have Theater of War 2 available for about 40% of what it costs anywhere else, so I am fairly likely to try them out.

Delixe: English company. Desperately understaffed. Still I talked with their support and it was top notch. Yes you are allowing SecuROM on your PC and you need their client to run stuff but it's not that bad considering you can trade games in.

Yeah, I like the sounds of the service and probably will give it a try. I just wish they had realized the kind of stampede that was the result when they essentially shouted "Free game!" to the masses.
Gamersgate deal:
Stalker: Call of Pripyat 30% off
Stalker: Call of Pripyat (Loyalty Edition) 50% off
Stalker: Clear Sky 60% off
Stalker SOC 50% off
Condemned: Criminal Origins 50% off
NBA 2K10 66% off
If you don't have a previous Stalker game and want COP, buy Clear Sky as well, as that's actually cheaper than just buying COP.

Shadow of Chernobyl will do as well at least it states that loyality edition needs SoC or CS to play. Good thing as CS is not available in my region at least (probably only north america). Does gifting to regional restricted area work in GG? Also does anyone know what DRM does GG SoC (and CS) use? CoP seems to use Tages. Limited activations?

Are you in Finland as your location suggests? If so, the GamersGate product feed shows that Clear Sky is indeed available in your region. For the record, the pricing in dollars, pounds and euro for all Stalker games are as follows:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat $20.96 17.46 €20.96
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat (Loyalty Edition) $9.97 7.47 €9.97
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky $3.98 3.18 €3.98
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl $9.97 4.97 €4.97
The product feed for Finland: http://www.gamersgate.com/feeds/products?q=clear&country=FIN
Also, if you have a retail version of either game currently installed, you'll be able to use the loyalty edition.
Now, on to your questions: You can gift games cross region with no problems (I've had this confirmed in the past). As for limited activations, there's a reason why GamersGate never list them. This is because as far as they are concerned, such limits should not be imposed on their customers. Once you buy a game, it's yours for good. So if the publisher has imposed limits and you do indeed come up against that limit, simply email support@gamersgate.com and they will personally reset the limit for you (most likely by issuing you a brand new CD key free of charge).
This is why GamersGate are pretty much the best place to buy Tages protected products from.

"This product is not available for purchase from your location."
As for DRM, yes I knew GG stance on limited activations ;-), just wanted to confirm if the limited activations were enabled in the version of tages (like other DRM, level of protection can be set up by developer/publisher). It was more about curiosity than anything else. I probably won't be getting them anyway (CS seem extremely buggy in Let's play videos even with latest patch btw, CoP on the other hand seems most bug free and stable.)

Yes, GG second best DD service around just after GOG especially because you can make fully functioning backups of their installers with many of their games. The trick obviously won't work with internet requiring 3rd party DRM like tages.

bansama: From what I've seen so far, you only need the client to download and install. They don't make shortcuts for the games or anything on your desktop or in the start menu, but make your own shortcut and you bypass the need to use the client to run the games (tested with both NecroVisioN Lost Company and Dark Sector).

When I tried to do that with Lost Company it completely froze on the menu screen. Fine running it through the client, but trying to run it directly was impossible for me. I'll try Men of War though.

Interesting. I would suggest contacting support (or asking via Twitter) as that could well be an error. I know games that have displayed as regionally restricted in the past, were so out of error and they were corrected fairly soon after GamersGate were aware of the problem.

Strange, as it does work for me =S

Just tried it again and it works now. Not sure why it didn't before, but I'm noticing an increasing number of minor problems with this machine so perhaps it's time for a format.
Anyway, thanks for pointing that out as I'd kind of given up on the idea.
The EA Store is featuring a Father's Day sale on Mass Effect 2 PC. 20% off http://bit.ly/bBwN0V

Sigh. Supcom2 deal ended just as I was about to buy it - indeed was a few minutes too late, so close. Real bummed about it. Here's to hoping that it won't be too long before a deal like that comes up again.

SoC doesn't have any DRM at all. Clear Sky used to use Tages, but it sounds like maybe it was removed.
Good timing. Just the other day, I was balking at the expense of the Stalker expansions. $14 for both isn't too bad.
And yet, still I hesitate. I can't help but feel that I'm in for something unpleasant.
