Have you tried the patch? The retail version works fine on my Athlon64x2 2.1GHz (K8) + Radeon 4770 system. You may also want check to that your GPU drivers are up to date ( TFU is less than 6 months old).

acare84: I have Core 2 Quad 2.66 GHz, 4 GB RAM and GeForce 9800 GTX+ with 512 MB RAM on Windows 7 64 Bit and it is not running smooth like other games. Maybe FPS capped at 30 or so. I don't know.

Navagon: Have you tried the recently released patch? It's supposed to be a pretty major performance improvement.

acare84: Yeap, I tried 1.2 patch and still the same. Maybe game is choosing system I don't know. :)

Navagon: 1.2? The one I'm referring to is 1.0.6.0. I haven't tried it myself yet, but it's supposed to be what the game needed sodding ages ago. So I'll give it another shot.

Namur: Well, the serial, or activation code if you prefer, is shown on 'my account' page right next to the button to download the game, so yes. I installed it and activated it on two machines so far.
