I remember reading about it and how cool it was. Then I played the demo and came close to killing myself with boredom. The best way to explain it is, soulless.
Still a good offer if you don't have the TR games (and you like them), but I have 2 of them, yet to play them lol, and zero interest in the "rpg", so, pass.
I hope in the last day they make available Order of War again, I will get it.
BTW, I wish more strategy and wargames were available here at GOG.

The main problem with that is that most older RTSs don't age too well, and the older strategy games were just so painfully convoluted that even the fans kind of wanted to kill themselves at times :p

Definately. IMHO, It's good enough to bear the FF name.
The combat system is a lot of fun, though you'll need to check the fan wiki as the manual doesn't do enough to tell you how to play.
My Steam profile shows ~110 hours for my play through. I didn't do any grinding. I just followed the storyline and did maybe half the side quests. 75% of the games content is side quests. You may or may not like that. There is some difficulty scaling, so skipping all the side quests shouldn't leave you too weak to complete the game. In fact, the end boss is dramactically more difficult if you go for 100% completion. ;)
I'm suprised the game has such a low Metascore. I think that is largely do to the Xbox360 release having large performance issues. The latter PC release does not suffer from those and has some gameplay enhancements (ie unions/ parties composed entirely of leaders/ unique heroes) along with all the DLC.
I have never played the demo, but I think I heard it's not very representative of the whole game. Like they throw you in the deep side of pool or something. It's also an early build.
I played with a dualshock2/ mouse combo. Analog stick for smooth movement, mouse for quality camera control/ mouselook. Lots of fun.
I actually liked the spikey blue haired boy (Rush) by the end of the game!!!

FYI: Metascores are platform specific. So a crappy 360 version wouldn't impact on the PC version unless the reviewers were (typically) lazy and based their PC review directly on the 360 one.

I don't see how this can't be also for all the other genres. While RTS generally sucked during the early years (Iron Cross and Combat Mission were ok), TBS and Wargames were as good or bad as other games of the period.

That is the problem. TBS and Wargames generally haven't changed much. And we see how popular those are :p
I am sure we'll see some more eventually, but GoG is going to focus on the games they expect to sell well. And that means catering to the modern gamer, to some degree.
And while other genres have varying levels of aging, by and large, they haven't changed much. Platformers are still platformers. FPS still have mouselook (and fortunately, not the kind SS1 and CyClones had :p). Sims always had ninety button joysticks :p
