They always buy you a coffee and a donut from Timmy's before every lightsaber duel and they always know where the closest Canadian Tire is. Not much good at being Sith, actually...

Vitek: So if I hate president of my country who was also elected by the people of said country then I hate that country, right? Does it mean I hate all of its people? Because it would mean I hate myself. I don't want to hate myself. :-(
If you hate president, that has done a lot for your country in good and in bad times, and whom due to this the part of majority supports, then you hate people. For US, that would be Washington or Kennedy, for example.

vsr: In Russia it doesn't matter. He was elected by the people of Russia. If you hate him - you hate Russia.

Stalin did a lot for Soviet Union in good and bad times, majority supported him. Stalin is a great guy, am I right?

vsr: NATO members have to pay 2% of theirs GDP to buy weaponry. More NATO members - more money from weapon sales. That is why USA is trying to scare it's members with "Russian menace". They need to sell stuff.
NATO is just a US mercenary. Countries which give up own independent army become fully dependent upon USA, because without loyal army nothing prevents placing political puppets. Thats a general rule, without loyal army the country cant be politically independent, because external parties will just pump it full of (illegal) lobbyist groups and army will either silenty support it (if its foreign) or will not be capable to resist.

Damn it, this is not the Canadian Sith I'm looking for.
This thread makes me sad. And scared.

Depends on the time scale. In 1930, a lot of nut stuff was going on.
Then again the majority of vile acts was commited by secret police, which was reigned by carrierists such as Ezhov.

After late 194x Stalin indeed did a lot of good for the country, you can say he did so much that it helped sustain it through the years of economical collapse (199x). That is within of existing communist system, I am not big fan of this approach personally because its oppresive and kills small and medium entrepreneurship.

Not to mention a few million people.

A minor inconvenience.

One death is a tragedy; one million is a statistic. - Joseph Stalin

vsr: Why hate Putin? He has over 90% support in Russia. Great President.

Titanium: Please don't spread around false rumors. It's more like 98%. You just went on the watchlist.
And even that is only because the 2% haven't been found yet, still hiding.
