Indeed it might contribute to add a bit of fun to games. It is nice when regular mafia keywords and commands are replaced by themed alternatives. Like casting spells in those Harry Potter games. Also, the writing from the host and sometimes players might help games more entertaining, at least for those who like to read.
Then you have the players who will refuse to play along and will treat every game as if it was non-themed. Sounds awfully boring but hey, maybe non themed games should be started to see if people really do like that.
