drealmer7: Combat was also boring in both of them (or sometimes just tedious.)
In most of them I just end up playing a stealth sniper character. Sneaking is just plain broken in Gamebryo games, and I would just one shot everything eventually with the higher skills and weapons. The main exception is Fallout 3 where I got a mod that just made everything ridiculous to kill; some of the added super-mutants required me to stealth assassinate them (which required a perk or two, iirc), else I would spend 15 minutes killing them.
drealmer7: Were you a skald or a straight "healer" ?
I was a straight Norse Healer, mainly specced for the self-buffs/self-heals, and crowd-control. I also got some of the group heal spells, just so I could back up heal if necessary (I think I stopped at the first instant group heal). One of the patches nerfed the self-buffs hard, as I recall, which is what made it a lot less fun for me (I enjoyed soloing a lot).
My first character, and my main character for a long time, was a Kobold Assassin (that may or may not have been the class name). That was really fun too, until they implemented LoS heals/ressurection. It was no fun if I could only climb a keep's walls, assassinate one person, then insta-die, then have to make the 15 minute trek back to the castle raid. I liked being able to be healed by support outside the walls.
drealmer7: LOS heals were much needed, otherwise you'd have someone up in a tower or hiding inside gate doors/inside a wall or bush or tree and they'd just heal and never be found, and it made no sense to be able to attack/heal without LOS.
Yeah, I actually
liked being able to do that. :P I understand the rationale behind the change, and it probably was needed for balance, however it basically killed both my main characters for fun for me (assassin and healer).
drealmer7: RvR in that game was the best EVERRRR!
I agree. It is hands down the best implementation of PvP I have ever seen in an MMO.
edit:
That thane lighting spam was what killed my frame rates. Everyone loved those dang thanes.. and they would all spam that lightning attack nonstop...

I also toyed with an Albion Cleric on another server for a while, just to get an idea of how the other Realms were. I never got the Cleric very high, I don't think. Level 20 to 30 (the level cap was 50, right?), iirc. Never bothered with Hibernia... because it had elves or something like that ... ugh... elves... :P
