It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

ChuckBeaver: Like the forced Linux Snap version of Firefox.

eiii: There's no forced snap version of Firefox. Linux distributions still can deliver it as a normal package. The reason for getting a snap version rather is the users choice for a certain company backed Linux distribution which delivers Firefox (and other software) as snap packages. ;)
The latest versions are snap irregardless of what users want. Depwnds on which version of linux you use. But latest Ubuntu is snap.

ChuckBeaver: So all those terrible things that feel like someone is intentionally ruining, is actually intentional and ruining the experience. Because Google tells Mozilla if certain things are not done, they will cut their funding. Google can survive an antitrust. They rather not have one. But Mozilla executives dont want their funding cut for purpose of greed. So users get a lesser friendly experience than when Mozilla actually was run before Google funded them.
Which sounds like what is also happening to Linux.

Firefox is trash. I used it for years and put up with the constant bugs, but i switched to duck duck go and no more issues.

Uh? Well, I guess you talking about mobile?

I gave up Firefox as primary browser when they pushed auto-updates. I'm still using it and is good enough, everything seem to just work, to the best of my knowledge. It's the only browser on Windows that seems to work as good as Chrome with touch inputs.

Palemoon is bit weird on Youtube videos, slow to load and kinda locks the browser for a few seconds. It's good overall, lightweight and fast but some users may find it annoying and outdated. I believe the last time I installed Palemoon that, in order to install uBlock Origin add-on it needed some weird steps.

Vivaldi is nice but there's some quirks. If you like to tweak the browser to your liking, this is the one!
Also, installing add-ons, like uBlock needed the Google add-on store.

Trooper1270: Pale Moon may be a rather good alternative, and still gives the middle finger to Google...
why would i do that?

Firefox still the only alternative to Chromium based browser, in all other browser based on chromium you have google eating all your data, in Firefox you can at least disable google features not on the chromium browser. Better keep using Firefox even with all the mess they made than using any Google browser, best option would be another competitor but i dont think any new browser could survive, Firefox is still on because of all peoples using it since almost 20 years now so they have a decent user base to keep running let's hope they keep using it.

Ubuntu also delivers other software as snaps. That has nothing to do with Firefox. Snap is Ubuntu's pet cause. For me one of the reasons to avoid Ubuntu and more general any company backed Linux distribution as their interests obviously differ from mine as a user. ;)

Okay, people, when I said "Any Ideas?", I meant "Does anyone have any knowledge of, or ideas on, how I could fix this problem within Firefox?", not "Hey everyone, what do you all think about the state of web browsers in general?", nor even "Please recommend other browsers I could switch to!" (well-intentioned though the latter types of comments may be). Sorry if this was at all unclear.

Also, obligatory "Don't feed the trolls" reminder. :)

Indeed. Reason number 391 why avoiding Ubuntu is a good idea. I really like that Linux Mint has taken a stance AGAINST snap.

Anyway, despite some minor issues, I still love Firefox. It's the only browser I can use, and have it both on PC and phone.
I was a fan of Mozilla browser and then Firefox for many many years, and still use Thunderbird as my main email client.

A few years ago, they finally turned me off Firefox, and aside from occasionally using Comodo IceDragon (very fast Firefox clone), I no longer use Firefox. In fact I use Brave, a fast Chrome clone.

What turned me off Firefox, was a few things, that started with the forcing of auto updating. Then worst of all was failing to save web pages properly or at all, which is something I do all the time. I wasted a lot of time researching and finding work-a-rounds, some of which like the OP has experienced, did not work for me.

Firefox used to have the reputation of being for the average power user, that wanted to avoid the stupidities of Microsoft etc. Now-a-days you have to be akin to a Rocket Scientist to use Firefox well.

I believe that being the PC user I am in charge, and anything that auto disallows that, and especially requires tricky fixes, gets the boot.
