It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

HunchBluntley: The preference name in about:config is browser.download.improvements_to_download_panel (I love the sheer presumption in that name). It defaults to "true"; changing it to "false" doesn't bring back download confirmation prompts, nor seem to do anything else. I've tried some casual Googling about the fix not working, but while I've seen a couple other people mention it not working for them, I haven't seen anything yet as to why, or any other workaround that doesn't involve setting a preference that applies only on a per-file-type basis.
Thank you for telling me this. Running latest FF on Win10 and it fixed these issues completely.

Orkhepaj: if cant be configured just ditch firefox it is an activist infested project anyway
the only people using it are linux users , are you a linux user?
Did you ever post something positive since you infected this forum?

I'm happy it works for those for whom it works. :P

Why don't you consider stop using ff positive?:O
it is a bad browser
They messed up the tabs a while back too. At first it was possible to fix in about:config. Later with custom settings. But then that stopped working too. Sad that they are pushing through changes like this without letting users customise. There are a million options in there, so I don't get they keep removing stuff like this. It's disappointing.

I don't know what specifically you mean. But if it's a visual problem, you can probably find a solution on FirefoxCSS.

Thanks. Perhaps that is what I used back then. It was CSS, and was meant to fix the tabs back to how they looked before. but later it stopped working, and I gave up trying to fix it. Trial and error with CSS code is a bit painful when you don't know the ins and outs of it by heart. I've spent hours upon hours of that on various wikis.

Perhaps I should go back and see if it is possible to fix now, tho. The tabs looked better before, when they didn't just melt into each other with barely any text.

In any case, Firefox is still the only browser for me. Won't touch all these Google associated spyware gadgets. Firefox with some privacy enhancing extensions is pretty good, plus some changes in about:config.

Just go ahead and post a new thread in the FirefoxCSS subreddit. See if anyone knowledgeable posts the code for you. If you want to inspect the UI yourself, the pinned thread explains how to do that with the developer tools. Not worth the trouble unless no one helps out.

You're welcome.
Good, user friendly Firefox already died many years ago...

Good thing I stopped using Firefox years ago.
When Firefox dies there will only be Google left.

Which is Googles goal. They have control (with their contributed 'optimised' code and 'new standards') of a large chunk of the workings of the internet, so why not the front end too...

This is why I stick with Firefox, despite endless annoyances. I'd rather support Microsoft than Google, but even they gave into Chrome. Arg!
If none of you are aware; Google make donations to Mozilla. Why? To avoid an anti-trust. In short google requires competition, otherwise they would be forced by law to split the corporation and the investors would be furious. As there is no legal problem with making a donation to your competition, this serves a few roles. A, the antitrust and B the fact that Google executives can directly control Firefox. Like the forced Linux Snap version of Firefox.

So all those terrible things that feel like someone is intentionally ruining, is actually intentional and ruining the experience. Because Google tells Mozilla if certain things are not done, they will cut their funding. Google can survive an antitrust. They rather not have one. But Mozilla executives dont want their funding cut for purpose of greed. So users get a lesser friendly experience than when Mozilla actually was run before Google funded them.

There's no forced snap version of Firefox. Linux distributions still can deliver it as a normal package. The reason for getting a snap version rather is the users choice for a certain company backed Linux distribution which delivers Firefox (and other software) as snap packages. ;)
Pale Moon may be a rather good alternative, and still gives the middle finger to Google...
