I thought "In the Name of the King" was alright. The connection to the game is pretty tenuous, but it's an alright low-grade fantasy flick with some pretty fun fight scenes (they're pretty much choreographed like a Hong Kong martial arts film).
In general, I think Uwe Boll's movies are a lot better than his reputation would suggest. He's not an awful director, just a rather mediocre one. Out of his videogame movies, I'd say BloodRayne 1 and In the Name of the King are decent; Alone in the Dark, Far Cry and BloodRayne 3 are funny to watch; House of the Dead and BloodRayne 2 are completely awful; and Postal is kind of amazing (seriously, it manages to capture the tone of the game (Postal 2) phenomenally well). Rampage (non-VG related movie) remains his best to date.

Other video game films I thought were pretty entertaining: Street Fighter - The Ultimate Battle, Tekken, DOA - Dead or Alive, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Oneechanbara: The Movie aka Chanbara Beauty aka Zombie Bikini Squad, and this MegaMan fan film.

Silent Hill, Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time and Mortal Kombat were at least watchable and well made.

Max Payne was a horrendously boring film.

If you like Double Dragon, you should check out Double Impact and Bunraku

Cavenagh: I wonder if they will ever make a Witcher film

[edit] there is already one called The Hexer

I'll have to take a look
If you do, don't watch the movie, watch the tv series. The movie is essentially the series chopped to pieces and stitched together to make a movie. Mind you, it's not based on the games, it was made before the games, and is a very loose adaptation of the short stories from the first two Witcher books.

XYCat: DOA is great fun :D
Don't mind the negative reviews. The movie brings everything you'd want from DOA.
Very true. It's not a good movie, but I still remeber it as one of the best cinema experiences. But it has to be watched with some friends.

I agree! Even my wife found it hilarious!
The Need for Speed movie was also decent, and the Prince of Persia one also. And Angelina Jolie's boobs in Tomb Raider albeit non-existent anymore..
Thanks for the feedback people, maybe GOG can get the TV series of the Witcher!

I think that would be great, but with all the (mostly unjust in my opinion) hate sorrounding the series it's doubtful CD Projekt and GOG would want their game in any way associated with it.
Super Mario Bros. (1993). The film stars Bob Hoskins as Mario, John Leguizamo as Luigi, Dennis Hopper as King Koopa, and Samantha Mathis as Princess Daisy.

CD project red doesn't own the witcher IP, and there's already been a live action witcher series

And a live action film. Not too good, judging by Sapkowski's opinion of it: "I can answer only with a single word, an obscene, albeit a short one."

I really should look up the english versions of the books. From what I just read, the intro to the first Witcher game is basically one of the short stories from "The Last Wish".

I read the first English book, it's very pulpy, but I liked it

It's pretty much despised by the majority of the books fans. You wouldn't believe the looks I get when I say I actually like it. Like if I just farted in a five star restaurant. Most people can't see past the crappy special effects, or simply can't accept that it's a very loose adaptation and quite a few changes were made to the overall plot. Interestingly Andrzej Sapkowski himself seems to be rather ok with it, at least according to an interview I read last year.
