The summer chillout is in full swing and with it comes a natural drive towards taking things easy. That’s why this GOG GALAXY Day is the perfect occasion to introduce such an approach to organizing your gaming library. We’ll also show you how to get The Witcher: Enhanced Edition free of charge just by installing GOG GALAXY.

Create your unique game library
You can never have too much of a good thing, they say. When it comes to gaming libraries, this saying is surely true. Did you know that an average library on GOG GALAXY consists of 114 titles, while the biggest library has…20,497 games? Just imagine the hardships of navigating through such a formidable collection without the proper tools that GOG GALAXY can provide.

By using the “Assign tags” option next to each title (see the video below), you can easily divide your gaming library into smaller, intuitive collections. This way you won’t lose your favorite titles even after adding to your library of owned games from other platforms and subscription services like Xbox Game Pass, Uplay Plus, and Origin Access.

Get your copy of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
In addition to helping organize your game library, GOG GALAXY also gives you the chance to claim and keep the famous fantasy RPG from CD PROJEKT RED. The Witcher: Enhanced Edition is widely considered one of the most ground-breaking RPGs ever made, and remains a must-play with its mature, non-linear story and challenging combat system.

To get this game free of charge, all you have to do is download the GOG GALAXY client and create an account. Once you’ve done that, head over to the "Recent" view and check the banner at the top. Click the giveaway button if you agree to receive news, updates, and GOG offers. After a while, the game will show up in your game library. This means you are ready to join Geralt of Rivia on his epic adventures!

Celebrate GOG GALAXY Day with us by discovering this useful and easy-to-access app. With it, you’ll be able to build huge libraries of exciting games (including a free copy of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition) without getting lost in the process.

GOG.com: Celebrate GOG GALAXYs EOL with us by reintroducing offline installers
Is what it should have said. :/

I'm confused. You can already do the assign tags thing in the website version of your library. Why would you need (or even want) Galaxy for that?
Please make it so Galaxy actually uses my Gog library tags. Its kinda useless to me until it at least does that.
Almost 3 months without an update to the client. All these years in beta. I think that Galaxy isn't a priority.
Ironic since Galaxy hasn't let me log in for over a week now...

GOG Galaxy day, everything wrong with GOG, all in one place and time!

I will celebrate GOG GALAXY Day when Galaxy's EOL is announced.

HunchBluntley: This already happens at least a couple times a month -- more frequently in recent months.
For example
Not really - there are mixed old and recent games. And I'd like some extra classics only day with some big titles - like Black&White or Neverhood. Or Dune.

Kryornis: Is there a way to display the number of games in each group like for owned and installed games ?
yes, there is :) just filter any group you want, once you had just click the little flag next to the left/right arrows up top - another group get created out of that filter

EDIT: sorry, I see now that actually doesn't work... :/

Come on, "GOG Galaxy Day"? I was trying to enjoy today. You'll end the FCKDRM.com campaign, but will promote this client endlessly? The whole point of this site for me is the offline "backup" installers. Those to me are the primary and only installers. Campaigns like FCKDRM.com when it was active make me want to support this site. "GOG Galaxy Day" makes me feel emboldened to boycott buying anything here, and the lack of additional big names during this sale doesn't help matters either, as, unlike others, I would be willing to buy the occasional "must-have" title like a Skyrim or a Resident Evil in order to have the DRM-free offline "primary" installer, even in spite of the horrible Galaxy-pushing NVIDIA cloud-pushing direction that GOG as a company has continued to go in.

If GOG was actually interested in what gamers say, what they want, they would have been reading the repeated criticisms of galaxy on this forum and would have realised just how daft and misjudged this "Galaxy Day" promo really was. It just reinforces a sense of being abandoned by GOG. They should keep their 'summer breeze' to themselves and invest a little time and effort into providing what gamers actually want.

So, hands up, who still believes GOG is not morphing into a steam wannabe, with little regard for gamers beyond what's in their wallets?

And the really bad thing is, I find the Steam client at least somewhat useful, while I simply can't say this about Galaxy, which I find just more and more useless and annoying.

What, for instance, is that 'other people are playing...' tab good for? The only thing it is telling me is that yes, games exist, and yes, people are playing them. You don't say.

And don't get me started about this nonsense with the changing background colors, especially in combination with the low contrast. I have read far more than just a couple of complaints about this by people that are visually impaired in one way or another, but hey, let's give a crap and make silly promotions instead!

So here's my deal: I was a Galaxy user but now oppose Galaxy completely.

I was fairly excited when Galaxy 2.0 was originally released. The old version of Galaxy was handy for pulling in your offline installers and showing you a list of installed games, but it was ugly and awkward. The UI redesign in Galaxy 2.0 is very nice, and I like many aspects of the Galaxy 2.0 UI more than Steam's. So the new UI was the biggest upgrade that I was looking forward to. I don't care about the integration thing, but I could see where some would see that as a nice feature.

However, after seeing more and more of a push towards GOG = Galaxy and attempts to integrate Galaxy into GOG games, I stopped using it altogether. (Also in the "negatives" category is the issue of a UI bug report ticket that I opened about a year ago and you seemingly haven't touched.) If Galaxy is going to be anything more than a simple offline installer downloader and launcher for GOG games, then it needs to die and die fast because any sort of tight integration with a launcher is shameless DRM.

Maybe focusing more on offline installers and making Galaxy "dumber" in the sense that it's just an offline installer manager would get me to start using it again, but as it is now you'll not be getting my support on Galaxy Day. Given Galaxy's current state and its potential to negatively affect GOG as a whole via stealth integration of DRM, I'd rather use a generic launcher like Playnite or nothing at all for my GOG games.
I have no problem with GOG Galaxy, really helps me know what I have and may want to play without looking through twelve separate places.

I really don't mind Gog Galaxy. Its easy enough to install and uninstall games at my whim. If there are updates, it keeps it up to date. I wouldn't mind a download offline installers link in Galaxy where it would drop a folder or zip so I can easily archive the game on a NAS or jump drive in case a meteor gets dropped on their servers by Putin or Steam.

I will point out CLEARLY that Galaxy is not DRM if you have the option to download and install separately. Games that need an active internet connection to work are DRM'd unless its to access multiplayer. Games that need to be registered online (Ubisoft etc...) are borderline DRM'd. If you clone a drive or folder and it still works on your new machine its not full on DRM. If it cannot function without calling home. Its DRM plain and simple.

Galaxy IMO is a helper app. The cross pollination with DRM platforms such as Steam//Ubisoft etc... is worrisome.

If you like it great, If you don't let GOG.com know that you want easier access to the 'backup' installers and want the downloader back.

Good Day and good gaming to you all,
