Watched Millions today, a delightful British film by Danny Boyle.
Rat Race - Pretty funny, but not nearly as memorable as I would have expected given its cast. Also the ending was absolute garbage.

Killer Elite - Can't go wrong with Statham and Di Niro, and the foggy morality gave everything a nice edge. The pacing was a little too fragmented at some points, though, and I can't help but wonder if the source material demanded something more sophisticated. And I don't remember any of the action scenes as being particularly memorable. Pretty good fun, but nothing amazing.

Ronin - Great acting all around (Jean Reno and Di Niro make a perfect pair), destructive gunfights, and some really cool car chase scenes (and I don't like car chases usually). But the plot flirted with absolute incomprehensibility most of the time, and it was a rare scene that didn't have at least one little thing that made me go "wait... what?" It also seemed unsure of what it wanted to be, starting in fairly realistic espionage territory and gradually turning into a disbelief-suspending action fest with lots of death and destruction. It's littered with suggestions of intelligence and potential, but never quite makes good on those promises.
Probably already mentioned here.

But I watched "Iron Sky" the parody where Nazis hid on the moon and attack U.S. President Sarah Palin.

One of the only two movies in the whole world where I feel sorry for the Nazis and I really wanted them to win at the end.
We watched War Horse the other night. I enjoyed it. It felt more like several separate stories strung together using the Horse.
Took the kids to see Rise of the Guardians last weekend. Certainly not the best animated movie ever, but it was enjoyable.

@Lou: War Horse is based on a book by Michael Morpurgo and is told from the point of view of the horse. I actually thought they did a pretty decent job with the movie (and it's one of my youngest's favorite movies ever).

Thanks for that - I will look it up.
Jackie Brown

Dat dialogue, man. Tarantino knows how to write it. How to make it flow, how to make it interesting, how to make it natural. And when charismatic talents like Samuel L Jackson are the ones speaking it, even something as mundane as the purchase of bail bonds becomes riveting. That's where Jackie Brown excels. Its dialogue, and the resulting black humor, are potent. But it's less interesting than his other films. It lacks the same sort of zany, arrogant, arresting personality. It's not as manic as Kill Bill or Inglourious Basterds, not as gritty as Reservoir Dogs, and not as flamboyant as Pulp Fiction. But it's not bad at all, either. No, it's a great crime drama, directed by a man who has never not known what he was doing. And while it may not leave as firm an impression as his other films, it's also the first time his playful depravity hasn't left a bad taste in my mouth. Also, Pam Grier is one hot mama.

One of my favorites! Beautiful and a little sad.
I just watched Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter on DVD and it was surprisingly good.
Satoshi Kon is one of my directors favorites.

In December I see "Tokyo's Goodfathers" , but also are good "Perfect Blue", "Paprika" and "Millenium Actress".
Just watched X-Men First Class and I thought it was the best X-Men Move to date.
I just watched a movie called Happiness. It was good but really disturbing in parts.
The Bourne Legacy..not best in the series but very good movie
Before Sunset.

I saw part of the prequel Before Sunrise a long time ago, and I couldn't into it. A large part of that was due to the fact that Ethan Hawke( never was much of a fan of his) and his character annoyed the shit out of me in that film. But Before Sunset is a lot better, and I actually have decided that I like him now, He wasn't annoying in the film and he also co-wrote with JUlie Delpy ( who I've also become a fan of now, though I've never had anything against her, just was indifferent) and Richard Linklater ( who I've always liked).

Anyways great movie. Though if you've never seen it or the earlier film, I feel like I have to warn you that there's not much of a plot to it. It's basically an 80 minute conversation

Yea I really liked Happiness, but it was definitely depressing.

BTW, I love the Before Sunrise/Before Sunset movies. Did you know that a third entry in the series was filmed earlier this year?

I'm really looking forward to it. The dialogue in these movies feels very real, very natural, very honest about relationships we have with one another.
